I started this because I wanted to watch something not too emotionally taxing. I am pleasantly surprised at how flat-out funny this is. I'm loving it so far.
I watched the anime YEARS ago but don't remember much, so I'm not in the position of having to compare the two. The special effects for the tennis shots are ridiculous but that's part of its charm. It is an oddly delightful series. I highly recommend it if you need something light and fun that will make you laugh as well.
I was surprised to find Koichi there as well! I do keep muttering 'where's Tsuyoshi' but that's just me, lol. My love for Kinki Kids is undiminished even after all this time. But Tsuyoshi is still my favorite. ;D
I jumped on this for KAT-TUN and NEWS, but developed a real fondness for King & Prince. It's a pretty interesting look into the lives of established idols and boys trying to claw their way to the top.
There are things that I like about I-Land and things I don't. I can't say I'm really enjoying it because it's so stressful. These kids are so talented and I feel their spirits are being crushed unnecessarily and for 'entertainment' purposes. Personally, I don't find exhausted, stressed out and crying teenagers all that entertaining. Some of the so-called tests are cruel and unnecessary, even the older and more experienced guys are breaking down under the strain so imagine what it's doing to the young ones.
They are all so talented, and some of them are exceptionally talented which makes the competition really tough, but I agree with some of the other posters who say that being in the Idol business is just that - business. They're getting hard lessons on what it's like being in the entertainment business. You have to give 100% at all times. You have to be able to sing and dance with emotion as well and look good while you do both! Some of these kids are at that point already, some aren't. Some have excellent vocals and others have excellent dance skills. The ones who do both extremely well are going to get chosen in the end.
I want them all to win, but that's not going to happen. Too many strongly talented boys are going to be left out in the cold. I hope other entertainment production groups are watching and snap them up, I know I would!
Sorry for the long posts. I have love-hate feelings for this show.
- Seung Gi's bargaining skills, and cheating, lol! - The dimples. They should have been called The Dimples Brothers. - Jasper attempting to be cunning. (The motorcycle keys! Seung Gi's cunning won in the end.) - Seung Gi can't stop shopping. Or eating. - STARBUCKS! - Mr. Special Forces Seung Gi dashing up the mountain in Nepal but coming back for Jasper. - Jasper cannot drink much alcohol. Seung Gi being protective about that. - Jasper trying to do sports. - The pajamas gift. Two Pajama Princes! - The fan's husband being mesmerized by Jasper's good looks, lol!!
There are so many good things. They are a great team. I will watch this again for sure when I need to smile and laugh. It's just so fun and the locations were amazing!
I love this so much. They are so cute and funny together. Jasper is so innocent. Lee Seung Gi is smart and funny and takes advantage of him, but then gets worried he's done too much. It is adorable and I'm loving them both so much.
If you need something to cheer you up, watch this. It will put a smile on your face!
I'm really not happy that Han Se Joo forgives that cat-throwing jerk Baek Tae Min! Why? WHY?!! Why leave him alone in your house when you know he steals your work and you're in the middle of a successful serial work? Not to mention he just asked you for the original draft of the work he already stole from you. WHY?! That's just stupid. I did like Yoo Jin Oh scaring the crap out of that creep though.
I'm on episode 11 right now and trying not to have a heart attack over all the things going on. I'm so glad I read the comments and kept going on this one. I had to get to episode 6 before I really got into it - the Ghostwriter kept me going because I found him really amusing for some reason.
I started watching this for Yoo Ah In. His character annoyed me at first but now I love him to bits. I'm also curious about the mystery, so I'll watch it to the end.

Yan Juice for everyone!
