Review The Untamed
Totally agree. I've seen all 50 episodes and it's truly excellent story telling .

As we progress through Life, we learn along the way. We learn through school, through experience, through making mistakes, etc. Life lessons are everywhere and always happening. The ending of "Making Our Days Count" had a wonderful opportunity to bring some of these lessons to the forefront and show that gay relationships can drive success because they are good, healthy relationships.

The writers seemed to forget that Hao Ting was entering into post grad. physics studies because of the momentum that Xi Gu gave him before dying. Even in death, Xi Gu kept his promise to Hao Ting's parents to do all he could to set the stage for a great life for Hao Ting. In my opinion, the tragic ending could have been very successful if only the writers had developed the story by considering the positive driving-power of Hao Ting's and Xi Gu's relationship instead of throwing a Xi Gu look-a-like and Phoebe into the mix. As a consequence, a valuable opportunity to show the world that positive gay relationships are just as valuable as positive straight relationships was lost.

Hi Keara. This is one of the most balanced and best written articles I have read. Like you, I am a fan of the HIStory series and applaud their efforts at helping to normalise same-sex relationships, with showing the world that gay is OK and that love is love. There must be so many people out there in the world now who feel a lot more comfortable in their own skins because these of HIStory stories.

You have a real knack for leading the reader along with a skillful mix of the serious, the humorous and the insightful. I thoroughly enjoyed the ride I shared with you on my journey through this essay and I agree 100% with your comments. Also, thanks a tonne for pointing out that gay relationships are not about the sensational nor the predatory nor the top and bottom. Such stereotypes malign same-sex unions. My partner and I are gay males and for us, our relationship is about love, respect and sharing a good life together. He is a doctor (Ph.D. not medical) and he is significantly younger than I am. I came into our relationship from a failed marriage; I also had two children. We’ve been together for 18 years now and we are just as happy today as we were at the beginning. In case anyone is curious, both of my children grew up heterosexual and they are happy, healthy and without any psychological damage due to having a gay dad. Life as a gay male in a relationship that's based on love, caring for one another and respect really is terrific.

I've been watching Nick and Patrick in some of the TV shows that they did following History 2. What amazing chemistry they have between them. It would be great if they are a real couple. Both are very, very likeable guys. I'm really hoping that both have a more substantial role in the movie.

I thoroughly enjoyed what Wilson brought to the series. Especially the final episode when he was the shoulder for Hao Ting to cry on. I hope he has a really successful career.

Thank you! You were terrific in "Long Time No See". I thoroughly enjoyed watching the show and I appreciated the brightness of character that you brought to the drama. More than anything, though, I'm glad that actors such as you are helping the world to see that being gay is not a bad thing.

I really enjoyed watching "Long Time No See". Thank you for being prepared to be a gay character on screen. You've helped many people see that homosexual relationships are not something that should be hated or feared.

Thank you! I watched this because you said that "IT WAS NOT A TRAGEDY" -- that told me all I needed. I don't like sad endings.

An exceptional young actor. He was given a hugely challenging part in Make Our Days Count. He's almost constantly…
I totally agree. Wayne was truly awesome!

I agree. Yu Xi Gu climbed mountains to be where he was. Even in death he still kept his promise to Xiang Hao Ting's parents and gave Hao Ting the push he needed to have a great life.

The ending could have been a tragedy still but the depth and the ultimate success of Xi Gu's and Hao Ting's homosexual relationship deserved celebrating. Isn't that part of what HIStory is about? Hao Ting's parents should have been seen saying "thank you" to Xi Gu's memory because Xi Gu is the reason that Hao Ting got to where is. Hao Ting's parents owed Xi Gu. However I look at it, a really, really valuable opportunity to help normalise and celebrate gay relationships was lost with this ending.

It's my pleasure. I loved this series a great deal and you summarised everything so well. The last two episodes really got to me, though. For all of today I have just been so, so sad. Even though it's just a drama and it's just acting, etc., it also hurt me as much as real life can. I guess that that means everyone did a great job.

This post contains spoilers for "History 3: Making Our Days Count". Please do not read it before watching the series.

What an incredible actor Huang Juan Zhi is. His ability to create a very real and very likeable Xi Gu in "History 3: Make Our Days Count" is a credit to him. At the moment, when I look at him, tears spring into my eyes. I've just watched the last episode of "Making Our Days Count" and I'm heartbroken because of what happened to Xi Gu. I sincerely liked Xi Gu a great deal. Even in death he kept his promise to Hao Ting's parents to make a great life for their son by motivating Hao Ting to achieve at the highest possible levels and to (Iiterally) reach for the stars. How amazing is that! Thank you Huang Juan Zhi. I really want to see you in more dramas.
