Development? He was ok with people throwing crap at him & the FL a few moments ago. Now he sees a weak person with a pig mask who is OUT OF BREATH FROM RUNNING and suddenly decides he needs to use his magic to hurt him? That's a twisted way of "showing his love" if you ask me.

Some people expect more from lead characters than just a pretty face. You're welcome to like whatever you want though.

Complex doesn't mean good. A story can be simple but good. A story can also be complex but mediocre (or bad).

This is basically Love and Redemption 2.0. The whole purpose of a drama like this is to create the next big star (LYX in this case) by making people pity and grow affectionate towards the ML (and in turn, the actor that plays him). The quality of the drama itself (story mainly) is mediocre at best.

I actually watched for the FL actress lol. Really liked her in "Moonlight". She has a very bubbly, cute personality that I think is missing in cdramas and her voice fits her roles perfectly.

childish ML - Who are the leads? College freshmen. They aren't supposed to be mature grownups (though they do mature a bit over time).
misogynistic - The FL is one of the most likeable FLs ever and by the end of the story there are a lot of people who like the FL more than the ML lol. That's rare, especially in a drama where the ML is such a big focus. So how is the show misogynistic with such a lovable FL? The FL character just won a Weibo poll over the ML.
It's fine to like this drama more than L&P, as we all have our preferences, but it's not cool to talk shit about a drama especially if you haven't watched enough of it to understand the magic behind it.

They always had silly background sound playing during those scenes, which made it seem more cute/playful than abusive, but I get what you mean.

I think this is one of the most well-paced dramas out there and every part of it is worth watching.

It's hard to say if he actually had the intent to rape her. He immediately stopped when he saw her crying. Maybe he thought she was just playing hard to get at first, then stopped when he realized she was actually serious.

I've never seen this level of chemistry between the main leads before. Enjoyed every moment, from start to finish. Definitely one of my all-time favorites.

Well it was the princess who asked for it. Maybe if it was Xuan Nu who asked, Ye Hua wouldn't give it.

Only problem is there were so many unnecessary scenes. I wished they focused more on the main couple.

other than the main cast, the acting's not that great(mostly novice actors so understandable) and the audio could use some work(the music/sound is sometimes louder than the person talking)

but overall it was a pretty fun watch.

I wished there was more screen time for Ye Hua & Bai Qian and less for some of the other pairings (especially considering the outcomes of their love)

But other then that, the drama's perfect. Everything from the acting & cast to the music is very well done.

Really wished there was a season 2 or something. I think I'm going to rewatch because I can't let go of the drama after watching the ending.
