Another vengeance-themed story, enjoying it so far, though! Chinese writers really do have a special bond with revenge plots, they are never tired of them. 😄
I love everything about this drama. I don’t usually rewatch shows, but I have rewatched this severally. It’s so wholesome. I wonder why the rating isn’t higher. People really don’t know good dramas.
Oh my! Grandma Dai and Tang's story is soooo boring. Feels to me like space fillers. She’s been given a second life, an incredibly rare chance to rewrite her story, yet all she contributes to the story is length. With such a rich backstory, someone who’s lived, failed, and been granted a do-over, you’d expect depth, transformation, something meaningful. But no, she’s still all about the same man she wasted her first life on. And frankly, he’s not even remarkable, what he did could’ve been done by almost anyone in the immortal realm. The writer could have done much more with her character. The second leads are painfully boring. I skip their scenes entirely, and I don’t feel like I’m missing much.
I don’t think he’s morally grey. He once saved his people, but instead of being rewarded, he was imprisoned…
I wanted to skip all the long explanations, but hey, here are my thoughts:
It’s totally okay to take a step back when someone hurts you. You don’t have to jump right back into loving and helping them instantly, and that doesn’t make you morally grey; it just means you’re hurt. (And let’s not forget, he had just gotten his freedom back before that boat scene, plus four of his sword spirits are still locked up!) And he still helped save them eventually,
Also, remember those possessed guys from the beginning? The ones we thought his sword spirit killed? Turns out, they weren’t actually killed, and this last episode made that clear. That’s not a morally grey move, that’s just a good person who’s been through a lot.
I love morally grey characters too, don’t get me wrong, but this one? He’s not quite there. At least, not yet! 😊

So, in the name of protection, she made her child live a life that was almost worse than death? The girl endured constant abuse, molestation, starvation, and so much more; yet the mother dares to call it protection? What an infuriating excuse! Shielding a child from pain by causing her pain, for 17+years?
Looks like the wardrobe team had a personal vendetta against the mom, she's rocking the same shirt in every scene! Did they think she was in a cartoon or what? 😂

Your explanation makes sense, but I'm confused about why Mas seems to be in the past. From the car he drives and the house, to his dad going to war and his friends—it all feels like he is in a different time. Also, about his dad: it was Khen who told him that his dad wouldn’t die in the war. Could you explain that part a bit more, since you’re familiar with the novel?

And the second male leads? Why are we still stuck on this emotional merry-go-round? Bro, he loves you back. It's not rocket science, lock it down and LET US move on! 😩 We’ve still got the rest of this equally uninteresting storyline to get through, so please… spare us the unnecessary drama.
