Ok. At first, I was like... 'Come on Jao, Sky seems to really like you!' But as the show went on I understood why Jao is/was hesitant. He is very self-conscious about his body image. When they go to Samet, Sky will put to rest Jao's fears about his body image as Sky actually likes him. When and if you read the book (up to where I am now), Jao actually liked Sky from the very beginning and even has his own little Pandora's Box of mementos from their interactions.
Also, Nuea is a bit ok with Toh because he has been watching Toh for a while when Toh takes pictures for events and competitions. He actually found Toh very intriguing but didn't know his name. That is why he referred to Toh as Van Gogh from the 1st time he saw Toh.
