News The plot lost custody of its senses
I bought what they were selling at the beginning, but things went downhill once the leads started dating.
The evil rich girl and the evil aunt/uncle/cousin are such overused tropes. One thing I've noticed in K-dramas is that the chaebol daughter is almost always portrayed as incompetent, often with an equally incompetent child, while the "son" is usually the decent, sensible one. Seems sexist to me.
Of all the things I didn't like, I think CSB was the one who impressed me. I honestly have no complaints about her acting.
One of my biggest disappointments, however, was HR's character. You're supposed to be a rational person, a planner with plans A to Z, and the best response you could come up with was abandoning your life's passion for a girl you'd known for barely two months?
Look, I'm a hopeless romantic, but some tropes just make me roll my eyes. Since she didn't leave without a reason, I expected him to come up with a plan A, B, C and probably D on why their relationship could work. But no. Instead, it was the usual "I can't live without you. I'd gladly give up everything I've spent my life pursuing just to spend another minute with you."
I love romance especially in fiction, but even I have my limits. That was a huge stretch.
Ten episodes somehow managed to feel both too long and too short. They barely covered anything substantial. Looking back, the drama wasn't even particularly romantic once the leads got together. Things went from hot to cold because of the family issues, which eventually became increasingly nonsensical.
The chemistry was okay, though.
6.5/10 - and that's me being generous.
