Well we don't know for sure if its him or someone impersonating him since the person seems to be wearing a mask who knows friendo might be off in the middle of nowhere living his best life while someone is using his identity to do crimes I just started episode 7 so idk for sure if some of this stuff is confirmed yet but but Mr. Godfather is the most likely suspect since he has the most reason to kill/stop her from cracking the case and him being known as incompetent is a good cover up since no one would expect him to even kill anyone

Her "incompetent" godfather which I think it's all an act and he's the one who tried to kill her bc he knows she knows too much and getting too close to finding everything out noticed how when they were supposed to meet up at the bathhouse he was somewhere else and also when they were on a stake out at the bridge not too long after he left Mr. Scarface appeared
