First of all, to Soju, great article. Please consider a similar article re dramas from S Korea and/or Taiwan and/or Japan. I have seen every one of the dramas you wrote about although only half done Rookie Agent Rouge. There is at least 1 drama I would add to my list, with 3 honourable mentions. Since many people have probably seen the Disney movie, I would suggest The Legend of Hua Mulan. Bit lengthy but a great female heroine! The honourable mentions, since I would not take any drama of your list, and they not exactly fall under ‘beginner friendly’ are: The Imperial Doctress, Legend of Lu Zhen, and of course, Scarlett Heart. It was because of Scarlett Heart that I wanted more/ found/watched Sound of the Desert and Journey of the Flower!
