Yes, and you’re not wrong too. I just can see this probably a short term solution and not a long term one with some risk.
You never know how a person or the people around them might turn out. It would only take the kingdom becoming more accomplished or prosperous than the other to be threatening anytime, not friendly. It might be the right time for him to launch his attacks when they’re pretty much the strongest. So uniting the kingdoms after war would be a solution to kill two birds with one stone. I know CX have some selfish motive behind too but considering his talk about emperor obligations/responsabilties, i couldn’t not think about that.

I get your point. Just saying without war there is no union between the kingdoms even if he ascends the throne. So if the nephew could have taken power it would prevent other people who covet it, not sure. I think that the motive of any war has always been the same: to be able to enlarge one's territory, winning benefits and anticipate a possible threat. You can pretty much guess Haoling Kingdom will be doom even without Xuan for a bloody course to the throne from the King family implications too in absence of some heir capable for ex and else stakes which cannot be obtained.
