Yes, it's very possible that it's about the demand especially seeing that people don't like to see older actors in this kind. It's a shame because a lot aspect about xianxia requires enough experience to convey a multitude emotions. I have watched almost ZLs list and love to follow her dramas. She is very promising, no doubt. TLI was a bad experience to me omg. The first episode was between pretty ok and at the same time boring. So I want to give a retry regardless after dropping on ep. 13 and i should stick to my initial choice. It was super repetitive, reused cliches, lacks execution, predictable, bland and dull lead chemistry and character, cgi not a bit spectacular and action meh, acting not always good, boring side character etc. I have so many complaints about this drama let's not you enjoy. After finishing, you know the feel i watched 80 undying episodes not 40. That’s fine then for you, you didn’t lost your time :)

ROFL. This is true, about the Last immortal some look alike expression. I’m saying that’s a range problem. WA is pretty ok in modern dramas but he did disappoint on that portrayals. It wasn't just a character issue and the exhausting plots. I gave it 5/10 for killing 40 hours of my life on it, not a total haters 2 actors maybe was interesting and for being a little ZL lover. I remember my struggle watching, thanks to the speed button which helped me too. I can never recommend this drama to anyone not even to someone annoying.

In terms of personality matching, air round, affinity, understanding, they were none between them. Even romantic chemistry isn't there. He looked more like an underling stick to going around his boss with a large invisible and even clearly visible line. She trusted him and considered him a right hand for work. In the same way she showed her stance towards him every single time. I didn’t feel any love flutter nor actual to the point that he should be her love interest. Wait, maybe his sorry head after XZ appearing suddenly but again nothing to feel. We even thought he would be a strong person at one point but that was false. His values for SL as a soldier had to be even clearer to him for many years. You talking about, that's what I'm saying, his character lacked depth so obviously it can't be appealing to everyone. Maybe it's the actor or it's just his writing that lacks credibility.

His love for SL was used as an attempt at self-pity party. If he really knew SL since so long and really considered her feelings. Since he didn't want to choose whether he should be good or bad. Even the fact that FS was using him but deep down he knew his going.

Anyway, it's just my opinion, it's okay that you feel something that could have happened looking at them and like him.

After FS possesses him completely he could stand up finally phew by the way haha. He’s pretty ok when you’re not overly critical so that’s alright. I’m not hating him honestly just stating what i watch for not liking much the overall character. In any case, I think he can get better with time.
