Crime drama with a bit of romcom actually makes the story more interesting and enjoyable to watch. From the very beginning, the drama was already announced as a romcom-type series, so the mix of romance and comedy is completely expected. It was never promoted as a full action drama. The reason crime elements are included is simply because the main characters are connected to the legal field, especially a prosecutor, so naturally there will be investigation and crime-related cases in the story.

This account is clearly just a pure hater. Nam Ji-hyun’s voice isn’t something she “made up” or faked — you can even tell from the dramas she acted in as a child.
Hate all you want, but Jihyun has already acted in all kinds of genres with that same voice — revenge dramas, romcoms, time-travel, historical dramas, everything.

Moon River feels like it’s repeating the same old drama tropes we’ve seen a million times, so it gets boring really fast. The worst scene was the body swap part — especially that scene where they tried to “cut it off.” It felt so overacted and it wasn’t even funny.
And the scene where the female lead is unconscious and being checked by the doctor? It honestly felt like watching a low-budget Mulan version. There was no charm at all.
The female lead’s styling in Moon River also looks like it copied Mr. Queen. After watching Mr. Queen, Moon River just feels bland and empty. The plot twists are predictable and overused

Back then, there weren’t really any body-swap dramas like Secret Garden, so it became super popular during its time.
But if Secret Garden were made now, it probably wouldn’t get the same ratings or viewership it had back then.

Even the media calls Nam Ji-hyun the “chemistry queen.” She’s known for having great chemistry with every actor she works with. Even in dramas without romance or kiss scenes, the chemistry still comes through.
In To My Beloved Thief, she’s basically the senior among the cast in terms of experience.

Moon River doesn’t really have a strong plot twist. It even feels similar to some scenes from Mr. Queen and the Mulan version. It’s kind of boring and feels underrated.
On the other hand, To My Beloved Thief has a really good plot twist, and the main female lead, Senior Hong Eun Jo, basically carries the whole drama by herself. The main lead actor, second male lead, and second female lead are still juniors. As for Hong Min Gi, he previously only acted in high school fight dramas, and his screen time in this drama is pretty limited. This is actually his first experience as a second lead.
The cast did their best in their respective scenes. I think the screenwriter of To My Beloved Thief has been winning Excellence Script Awards since around 2020. Even TVN tried to produce To My Beloved Thief back in 2022, but it didn’t end up happening.
