This is horrible
I love showbiz romance to death, so I decided to give it a try regardless of its rating, but... it's somehow even worse than expected...
The acting is bad, the plot is EXTREMELY bad and the main leads have poor chemistry as a result of the imbalance in their relationship. It's extremely cheesy in an unrealistic, appalling way that displays no knowledge of how anything works, despite being shot on set by a team in the film industry (huh?). First, the way that Punn immediately assumes he got the intern job on set is... extremely cringe. 2, he has no experience and the way he presents himself so cluelessly is giving me secondhand embarrassment, and how the hell did he land such an internship? Is that how things work in Thailand? lol. At least PAs where I were don't get work like that--and not as an intern, but a PA. His motives are so impure that where I am, he'd never have been hired.
(EDIT: IT TURNS OUT (((SPOILERS)))))) that Punn liked Ashi even before he became an actor lmao so... that's fair)
Secondly, that none of the actors avoid him (and even encourage him) because of his obvious starstruck behaviour (besides Title who is enamoured with Ashi himself) is extremely unrealistic and therefore offputting because I just can't suspend disbelief. Maybe Ashi isn't that big of a deal (which would make sense, 'cause Prince of Love is extremely bad and even the heroine... she must act that cringe on purpose right? right??)
Punn pines for an actor, Ashi, in a way that makes their relationship really unappealing. I think it would have been better if he had pretended not to care or something, but the low level PA-pining-after-actor thing is really (cringe). It's not a relationship of equals, at least to start, and by ep 4 he seems to realize that Ashi is a *person*, but... he still takes care of Ashi by waiting on him hand and foot like a pet and it's really not romantic. I think it would have been better if he were secretly a fan but genuinely interested in the filmmaking process and wanted to actually learn, and took the work more seriously than just caring about getting close to Ashi (euck).
I know this is based on a novel but christ, the novel must be bad too.
DUDE HAS NO IDEA HOW TO MASSAGE i'm so embarrassed
