Having just finished and been blown away by 180 degrees passes through us I was very taken with your review. I decided, from now on, to make sure I either review or write notes on what I watch as it is too easy to forget the impact. I have enjoyed most on this list (I dropped Rak Dio because of the 50's sitcom vibe but will add Not me and Manner of Death to my PTW list) thanks.
I recall a Japanese female singer who got blacklisted by the industry for 10 years for suing for something similar.I…
Times are changing. Society needs a new form of leadership that can come from anywhere and anyone. Even Japan is facing challenges to their same sex marriage laws. PS If you are mentioning the Japanese singer Ami Suzuki she was out of work from 2001 - 2004. "In 2004 Ami Suzuki finally made her return to the music scene releasing two indie singles, and in December 30th it was revealed that she had signed a contract with avex trax."
This talented, hardworking young man has endured years of mental abuse from the actions of the company he was working for. Like many people, when they realise the extent of their abuse, he is suffering further from the negative emotions he is experiencing. Legal action is called for to get a true picture of the accountability of those involved in the cover up and gaslighting. I hope Lee Seung Gi sets up a not for profit foundation that can use the donated money to assist other artists fight for justice when inappropriate actions are made against them. A fund like this can send a warning to the entertainment industry to clean up its act and give encouragement to the entertainers that they have real legal rights - not just what their companies would have them believe.
Is it just me but I feel a little superior when my friends say they cannot watch movies with subtitles my first thought is "you do have to be able to speed read and comprehend to enjoy the action." Okay so some of the english subs also require generous interpretation but the brain is wired for that. That whole typoglycemia thing "Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn’t mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoetnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. I enjoyed this movie. This is well done and I got the feeling the actors were really enjoying themselves. We learn early on that Yoon Seo is less than brave so it is a surprise, after he discovers illicit pornographic stories, when he decides to pen some of his own. Although justly afraid of the king he also is attracted to the king's concubine, Jung Bin. She is very direct in letting him know she is interested in a liason and her loyal eunuch provides the opportunities. The dialogues between our writer Yeon Seo and his friend the illustrator for the stories, Gwang Heon, and Gwang Ha the bookseller is both comedic and very explicit. Yeon Seo uses his experiences with the concubine to flesh out the stories eroticism, unfortunately the stories are soon circulating in court and the inevitable discovery is made. Some fairly grim punishment before both lovers come to realise they have developed strong feelings for each other. A twist in the plot here means the end is not as mundane as expected.
The ending haunts me, honestly. I keep waiting for a season 2. I think we deserve a season 2 with that ending…
I agree as long as the toxic characters are banned from returning. There were dark sentiments in this drama that surprised me and brought out the vulnerability of the Young Goo character.
Looking at your list I remembered how affected I was watching 'my absolute boyfriend'. I even watched the Taiwanese and Japanese versions but they weren't as engaging.
Okay, this is interesting, although my watch list is groaning I will be checking some of these titles out because I realise some of the ones I have watched were favourites.
Thanks for your insights. I wonder if dropping dramas is a learned behaviour? I think I am still a newbie and in awe of all the wonderful drama options so I hang in there until the dying throes. I am learning to skip so that is a positive. I do read the reviews to get a sense of what was loved or hated about the drama before I watch and I check out the tags because if it has 'psychopath' I know it will be toxic and some of the baddies beggar belief and will give me nightmares.
