Article Defending the Thirty-Minute Episode Format
There's a bit of a problem with what your saying. The new format can't be compared to Something about 1% because although that show was 30 mins, it only had 16 episodes. The new format incorporates 30 mins into a whopping 32 eps. That way you're getting the same amount of content (fillers and all) as before. So nothing has really changed, theres no reason for writing to be tighter because writers have the roughly the same amount of time. To be honest, the only thing this new format really affects are the commercials.
