I don't know about the novel but in the series they meet in the clinic for the first time and slowly become buddies.
I think that's because they show time passing fast, he is dumped, gets injured goes to dr they become acquaintances, dr helps him with the glow up, later become friends. I agree though it could have been better if they added more depth to it but perhaps they didn't have enough eps for that and they wanted to start with the main plot

For the cast, chemistry and acting its a solid 10 for me I am lowkey obsessed with them 😂 But if you include the plot too its overall rating will be 8.5 for me🧡 The sole purpose of haters rating any show is to bring down the rating. I feel like if one starts watching any show without any baised opinion they will never rate it 1 and leave a detailed review about it too, you serious need strong hatred for that lmao
