a message of semi-thanks, as have just read the manga and might not have done if I hadn't seen your spoiler :-p I recognised the style from Shintan Kairou - I haven't read all that widely but of what I have read, that one really impressed and stayed with me. It's so free in what it explores and thought provoking - it does / conveys stuff I feel you could only do justice via that medium - really amazing. Be difficult to convert that into a live action for sure. I sort of disagree with your comment re no romance in this one - it doesn't centre on it, but there are bits and - anyway - whatever - I'm just really glad to have read the manga. I am in renewed awe of Nagai Saburou. Really intrigued to see how they adapt it from here but first episode and the cast are so well done I'm excited to see how they handle it
This is one of my favorite manga. It’s a beautiful, dark and tragic story. For those looking for a romance,…

I have a niggling question and hope you'll indulge me: Is your pic a Utsukushii Kare ref (a Kiyoi rubber duckie I somehow missed?) Or Rain (love in the air) - similar floppy hairdo and would match your username. Or neither?! :'D Keep finding reasons I don't even need for a UK rewatch
“are you playing with your marbles?” “how did you know?” “you always play with them after a shower”
this hilarity, and getting a to see the incredibly boring (they were all the same :'DDDD) marble collection of a teenage boy, organised into compartmentalised glass drawers in previous ep were series highlights fer me
respect to the taishin actor, eito konishi - I think he did a good job of committing to a difficult role and direction
I really liked the original version of this and when I saw this was coming out I thought what's the point in remaking. I was bracing myself for disappointment watching it, but am struggling to find a single thing about this one that I don't like. I was really expecting it to be a let down in comparison - but actually it's just a joy to have a story I liked so much get given more time to develop the characters etc. My low expectations prob elevated my enjoyment even more. I love love love it
really really enjoyed this it was funny and charming and weirdly everyday/ realistic - while at the same time managing to being totally unrealistic and an escape from real life which I needed for an evening. A number of BL (/ just romance), tropes / cliches but that's part and parcel of the genre - they didn't irk me - they added value if anything It cheered me up and made me properly laugh out loud at one point for an extended and delighted period of time Plus- there's a Lychee club connection which gives Ayumu an edginess for me - I can imagine a ton of extra depth to his character. Makes me want to write a sequel :'D
Kondo Shori is handsome, hot and funny in this lead role. Unfortunately, the ridiculously contrived plot has already…
this gif and turn of phrase looks familiar! have you been reprimanded for some saucy remark? If you've been forced undercover you might need to work on your disguise :)
Alt title: Treating each other like sh*t. The acting is really good in this - and so were the sex scenes (as in, realistic) but I found the characters difficult to sympathase with and the bird metaphor was as subtle as a sledge hammer. Shin's staggering walk home in the rain with Kazu after he gets released was a bit more subtle - but fucking horrible. In general I like bleak stuff, but this just depressed me.
SO GOOOOD! I love the way it's shot - gorgeous lonely night time scenes and the framing is perfect. I liked lots of little details but esp. the reaching over his sanrio car paraphenailia to turn the meter of with his foot :'DD Bit dark, funny, clever, melancholy, and the credits are adorable.
