This "group of upper-class housewives living in luxury residential, their scandals, allegiance, with mix of suspense & secrets", isn't a new theme, Japan and Hollywood for example are known for it, like Suna no Tou, Yakou Kanransha, Desperate Housewives etc. But SKY Castle is still nice & engaging enough, with it's own flavor, at least for the 1st 2 eps.
I know many audiences likely talking about Muru Hanjiang's heart-crushing declaration to Su Yuning for today's 21-22. But while as a girl myself I love it, there's actually something I like more: the sisterhood between Su Yuning and Princess Ji. This drama already have many brotherhoods and romantic pairings, so it's nice to finally found a nice sisterhood, too! It's a bit marred at the end with Muyun Lu's matter, but I hope they can still mend their relationship, Princess Ji understands Su Yuning and Su Yuning forgives Princess Ji.
OK finally finished til the latest 16. I thought I would never catch-up LOL but thankfully from the 2nd day onwards, they only released 2 eps per day.
My fave male-female role, pairing, and story section are Muru Hanjiang and Su Yuning. They're the only main cast with humor in their personality. Both of them are the combination of serious and light moments, heroism and cuteness, inner strength but also childishness. The gap between when they face other people and each other are so big that it'll make you giddy, esp. when the adult actors start portraying them in 14, Dou Xiao and Xu Lu have great and instant chemistry! The cool unruly boy become shy struck and the girl who maintain proper manner become playful and a tease. Their premise is also exciting with his vow to protect her forever and we would then know that even in the 4 years they've been separated, he always checked on her secretly.
The other 2 plotlines are all 100% serious. Shuofeng Heye the most intense and tragic, not only with his family but his tragedy with his 1st love will also be here soon. I pity ones who try to gain his love after that, since a man as intense as him won't let go of tragic 1st love that easily. For now, I feel bored with Muyun Sheng's plot and his insta love. It's just not my taste how he already fall in love with a woman when he still could only see her from behind and far away in a tiny gem. Let alone speak, even don't know her face for a while. I can't wait til he becomes more ruthless and interesting later.
Yes, there's no official news but there's many rumors stating it in either Tieba Tribes page or Weibo, ranging between Mar-Jun or Apr-Sep. I hope it'll still in 1st half. Don't worry its been confirmed the problem isn't lies on Hunan TV & other networks that already bought it. They really want to air it themselves, hence former news that said Dec 2016 or Jan 2017, but the post-production just didn't make it on time.
The certain thing is, Jan isn't possible. Tribes is already put in Golden Theatre slot in Hunan. And right now is General. So the latest Tribes can be is Mar-Apr.

I watched til eps 7, Get it via the usual route of Baidu cloud resources. I like it enough, rate it 8/10 for now. The plot is, as I expected, your usual soap-revenge makjang melo. But the romance is indeed very good, they also show us early how the 4 guys each interacts with the female lead. The "antiheroine" female lead is also a refreshing touch, I like the suspense of her "double agent" life.
From the news I read, it should start in Jan 2017, but the post-production taking longer than expected, so General air 1st. The latest rumors are sometime between Mar-Jun.

I think this one is meant to be binged. It airs on IQiyi so they'll release a bunch of eps a day, so its not easy to keep up with it. I'm planning to try since Xu Lu is one of my fav C actresses and this is her 1st drama in 2017. Also, like you said, a longtime comeback for Wilber Pan. Their age difference is big (15 years), but I'm glad to see in trailer they look good together. You can try watch the long 25 min trailer I posted below to decide. Its more of soap revenge-makjang territory but the "harem" romance is hot.

Most of C Dramas have that many eps, even more, be it historical or modern. Since they have to air their dramas on Mon-Fri, so they don't like having too few eps of a drama.

Yes its Chn remake. The original Kor writer supervises it so hopefully it turns out good. Its scheduled to air in June 2017 on Anhui TV, so stay tuned.
I'm only worried with the Chn dramas habit to prolong a drama by having tens of eps, since they have to air dramas from Mon to Fri so they don't like to have short dramas for TV. Its often resulted in dragging subplots with too many portions for supporting chars. And since the original K drama was only 17 eps, I hope 40 eps for C ver. won't hurt.
Yaay my fave actress Hwang Jung Eum has a new drama again! I thought she would rest for a while after getting married but thankfully that isn't the case. Can't wait!
