I don't understand your question clearly but if you mean wuyi going back to ji ling's past as doll form on current timeline, then how did ji ling live in the past without wuyi's intervention? The thing is wuyi gone back to the past with the help of ji can in the current timeline and prevented ji ling committing suicide by sacrificing her tail, and that's the reason ji ling is still here in the current timeline, or ji ling would be gone before even wuyi was born. And that's the reason ji ling said the doll used to talk to him in the past, but it was actually the wuyi form the future that talked to him
