Wang Yizhe handled two very different roles quite well. I loved one character and loathed the other. I remember him well in A Journey to Love (still can't watch the last episode🥺).

Both are repped by Huanyu. But this time Yu Zheng had no control over Eight Hundred and couldn't drop in his talent. Or make any deals.

They dragged their feet in some sections (see incense competition) of the drama but rushed through the ML's story, especially at the end.

I don't think there were any complaints over Tian Xiwei's screentime.

They couldn't learn their lesson from Moonlit Reunion as SotB wrapped before MR was released.

Plus it would be comforting for Xu Kai to have a friend on set with him.

My question: Are Mo Qing and Li Chenlan considered two separate characters? Isn't Mo Qing just a nickname Lu Zhaoyao gave him? He does taken over by a demonic force but that comes and goes.

There are times when Xu Kai doesn't appear at all fazed by the NPCs. He walked past one to get the towel. It does seem he needs time to adjust.

The way he moved through the "dryer" was masterful!

This adventure reminds me of Xu Kai's appearance on Laugh Together last year. He played the thief and was caught quickly. If he's a bad guy this time around, he's doing a more convincing job.

And the loyal but put-on friend in She and Her Perfect Husband.

I've wondered if Xu Kai suggested him for a role in Eight Hundred.

For me, that one scene in the tent when Zhu Zhanji is offered tea makes up for any deficits. It is truly a masterful performance by Xu Kai, among the best in all his dramas.

If you can't appreciate Xu Kai's wardrobe in Kunlun, I have nothing to say. It was absolutely top-tier.

I've watched this drama a few times, admittedly with my finger on the FF button. That one little bastard took up so much screentime and the main baddy's haircut was criminal.

It's impossible for Xu Kai to have less screentime per episode than he did in Moonlit Reunion. Right?😟
