And it is HER JOB to notice the bribery, she is in charge of the project! Your boss is not there to protect you in the workplace, that is bananas! Your boss has a job to do, he actually did his job while she screwed up at hers. He has no obligation to warn her that he excluded Deshan from the bidding due to bribery, it was her own incompetence that prevented her from noticing. Checking the confidential documents you send in emails is basic work that she failed to do.

That makes sense yes. A lot of people don’t know the plot of the drama going in, and will have only heard of it via promo and marketing, so it’s certainly an odd choice to promo Xu Kai as a lead actor and have couple posters when this is actually a family drama. As a family drama it is very well done, as a romcom it obviously fails because it’s not supposed to be a romcom.

Her boss doesn’t owe her anything? Frankly she should have been disciplined or fired for not noticing the kickback which is bribery and ILLEGAL, happening right under her nose! He took steps to protect her but he absolutely has to do his job and foil the attempted bribery. That is how the corporate workplace works and ML was more than generous to her because in real life the company would have due cause to fire the FL

I said the other day the MCH mother is exactly like Mrs Bennett, just in modern-day Shanghai! The hint of romance between the leads reminds me a little of Pride and Prejudice. I hope YCM isn’t too hurt by his grandmother’s will. I know we’re supposed to want him to learn a family’s warmth from MCH’s family but her mother would be a nightmare in law. Would butt in on every aspect of their marriage, when they have children, how many, what school they go to, it would never end! I hope YCM just befriends the dad and brother and gives the mother a wide berth lol

Literally, she just described her duties as a parent. You can’t blackmail your kids by saying ‘well I patented’ the kids can respond ‘Yeah and I childed. You requested a child to raise, you got one, I’m raised, our exchange is over.” So silly pls Chenghuan was right to say her mother just wants an obedient doll, she doesn’t care about what’s best for Chenghuan, she just wants CH to be her avatar to live the life the mother wanted to live, with no regard to whether Chenghuang wants that life.

that’s not how billing works in television and film. Lead roles have a screen time expectation, of having the most screen time, that is the difference between a lead character and a supporting character in a script. supporting characters can have tremendous impact on the story and often can even set the whole plot into motion eg Death of a Loved One. There are Best Supporting Actor award categories for a reason, they can have a few minutes of screen time and make a huge impact. Viola Davis won an Oscar for 8 minutes total screen time in Doubt. Impact is not the issue here. Lead actor has a minimum screen time expectation, award shows may even state minimum requirements, so they will have to increase Xu Kai’s screen time if they want to submit his performance for Lead Actor catergory nominations, otherwise he’s doing a great job as a supporting character. Some viewers may be understandably disappointed if they tuned in to see him in a lead role when he is really a support here.

I mean I get where OP is coming from because Xu Kai is listed as a main character when he should be listed as a supporting character. Other supporting characters have more
screen time than him so it doesn’t make sense
to have him listed as a main and the drama marketed with couple posters. The promo should have been family/ensemble posters to better manage audience expectations that this is a family slice of life drama with a little bit of romance.

I agree! She keeps taking about keeping work/life separate but she got all upset about her BOSS refusing to ignore BRIBERY bc it makes her look bad?! No he is not going to consider ur FEELINGS this is a workplace, leave HIS grandma out of it! She keeps trying to have it both ways and frankly he was far kinder to her than he needed to be
