I feel like im being gaslighted reading this comment section. The 2nd FL is someone who cant take no for an answer…
I think before we go into the whole hypocrisy thing we really need to clear out some stuff. People are having a hard time with this drama due to its messy plotline, weird direction and the fact we have no information about the main protagonists at all. In such cases it’s normal for people to seek out other reasons to keep their interest intact in a drama like this. Hence they started discussing the SFL. Her acting is great no doubt. Unfortunately people didn’t find FL’s character as intriguing as the SFL. People like Hui Ju more and that’s why the shippers are kinda going crazy lol.
As for the harrasment, we don’t really know what went down between Tae Oh and HJ in all these years. Perhaps she kept her distance from him? We’d never know, unless the screenwriter decides to do so. She’s obsessed, yes. She’s had a tiny crush and she’s been holding onto it for over 10 years now. I do think it’s too much. In fact Tae Ho and Hye Won’s weird relationship dynamic is also so unrealistic. The writer for sure ruined most relationships in this drama.
But HJ is supposed to be a spoilt brat (kinda) she’s used to having most things and she really lives in her own world. She thinks she can have Tae Oh if she fights for him. This alone should tell us how naive her character so far is.
But Tae Oh never once gave HJ a shut up call. He mentioned how she’s his employer and how they cannot be together. Why can’t he just tell her he’s not interested in her, or that he likes someone else? This leads me to believe Tae Oh has his own reasons. So, I’d say the relationship between HJ and him isn’t as simple as it seem.
Now coming to the hypocrisy, yeah if the roles were switched people would most likely hate the man. But this is fiction. We are talking about a drama where most characters are greedy, and are ready to backstab one and other. Why should their love life bother us?
Although the plot is kinda all over the place I still think it has some elements to keep the audience guessing.
We can pretty much get an idea of international audience’s thoughts in the comments section. But I’m really interested to know what K-netizens have to say regarding the FL, the business plot, the characters relationship, shipping (😂), crazy theories and the potential ending of this drama. Does anyone know how this drama is doing in SK? I have seen some comments from Koreans on different platforms but nothing too detailed.
Is this about the siblings theory? because that's my last straw 😭 I can accept that HJ and TO are not endgame…
You’re right, that would be my last straw too.
“Awaken” didn’t have incest in it, but the writer really played with audience’s mind in the first few eps. The side characters kept implying the main leads were bickering like a couple and all but then they turned out to be siblings 😭 I dropped that drama afterwards so idk if it’s legit or not. I have been traumatised though. Lol
But yeah “The Bequeathed” has a weird incest plot line but it’s not (really) related to the protagonist of the story, so it was bearable 💀
People saying “there’s no way the writer will try something like that” meanwhile there’s me who has watched “Awaken” and recently finished watching “The Bequeathed” Kdrama writers don’t shy away from anything 😭 but still fingers crossed.
there’s no explicit romance but there are sweet moments between the two main leads, and the ending implies there’s a possibility of a relationship later on
You drama veterans out there, how good is the mystery?
I guessed the entire plot in episode 3. Now all “mysteries” are being revealed but.. I mean I won’t call it that considering the plot is too unoriginal. If you’ve been watching Kdramas for a while you can pretty much see where the whole story is going.
Of course, there's no way the main character will die 2 episodes in and I don't think the drama intends for the…
True that. Although it did feel like the writer keep hinting towards our ML being involved in some dodgy stuff. His anger issues and the strong sense of justice and all. Which makes him very similar to the Dogmask guy. Maybe during the investigation he could even become a suspect so he thought let’s go off the radar by pretending to be dead? I would actually like that lol. If you’re presumed dead you can’t be held as a suspect.
Or it’s just a trick of our ML and he has things to do which he can only do if he goes underground? Who knows, but I am really enjoying it so far. I prefer my Kdramas keeping me guessing and making me come up with the most random theories at hand.
With that being said… the cyber part is very very poorly done. It’s irking me. 😭
No good crime-thrillers are airing currently so I’m left with this… The plot holes are physically painful to watch and the fact this storyline is all over the place 🤡?? There’s so much I want to write about but at the same time who cares? I’m just hurting my brain cells at this point.
Also why are people getting angry about Muslims/Arabs calling out Korean entertainment companies for being balantly racist or just poor representation? if you’re not Muslim/arab you don’t get to talk on this issue just like Non-Koreans weren’t allowed to speak about the historical K/Cdramas with controversial topics.
As a Muslim I was ready to cringe when the plot went further into “Muslims” like I just knew the writer would probably bring out an opinion and shove it in here which would trigger me. But luckily that didn’t happen. The whole Muslims and them submitting to one ‘deity’ was okay-ish. Although I wish they had used ‘God’ instead because Deity isn’t as comprehensive for when it comes to the Islamic belief system.
I’m not arab but boy… the whole you can get away with murder with Saudia Arabia thrown into the mix 😂 wth??
I would give a B for korean writers to actually get out of their comfort zone and explore different cultures and religions meanwhile using it as a medium to educate their audience. But please do your research and be thorough with it. Trial and error is acceptable if your intentions aren’t to be Racist. I’m not calling the writer racist, I’m just saying more research was needed because the whole thing seemed very out of place when you put it together with a murder mystery and an ongoing police-prosecution investigation.
Also the plot is just very poorly written. it’s one of those dramas you’d watch when you shut off your brain entirely and let the flow take you wherever.
I mean… I know he’s not dying but like still if you want the audience to somehow feel shocked and whatnot.. if you want us to believe a character has passed away in this episode WHY WOULD YOU SHOW THEM ALIVE IN THE PREVIEW OF THE NEXT EPISODE?? c’mon at least make me feel devastated and shit.
Don’t tell me this is going to go down the organ transplant, hospital involved in corruption, dirty family secrets path… because it’s been done before. It is 2023 I expect something different. So far getting classic Kdrama vibes from this one, comedy involving moms (which is a cringe fest), small hometown, love triangle and a very grumpy ML. Is it just me or lately Kdramas are going back to their old format? i recently finished watching Revenant and it really reminded me of The Guest, then I watched Bad Prosecutor and it had all the elements of those old detective/prosecutor type Kdramas. Maybe it’s a coincidence but when we said we liked old Kdramas it didn’t mean we want Kdrama writers and directors to just copy paste old scripts.
SBS showed Return/Penthouse/Big Issue with 19+ ratings for certain episodes. So they can go a bit darker if they…
I’m fine with blood and stuff because I only watch crime/thrillers which basically revolve around such plots. But you’re right SBS will do a good job (it’s just the Manhwa was way too explicit so I was wondering) but crime/thriller kdramas rarely disappoint me though so I have high hopes

But thank you so much ☺️ 🙏🏻 this is much better.
You’re welcome ^^
