An honest review (Spoiler Free) PS. I didn’t write it on the review because this would be brief.
I was surprised by this show. I had high expectations for this and I’ve been waiting for a year since the mock trailer was released. I’m glad that this met my expectations and it brought a fresh breathe among existing BLs made by GMMTV. The execution was well done and the improvement on cinematography was evident. Though the artists are rookie (Tian played by Mix), they portrayed their characters beautifully, acting was natural. OSTs was superb and the 10 episodes were excellently used to fit the whole story, nothing feels dragged out or exaggerated for the sake of the length. Not much filler scenes.
Since ITSAY was released, my standards went high when it comes to production value of a series and ATOTS came close to it. Though I’m not as emotionally attached to this compared to how I was with ITSAY, this definitely made an impact and impression to me. That said, ITSAY still has my heart and I noticed some thing I didn’t like (Don’t worry, it’s just me nitpicking) Overall, I love it and I can see that GMMTV is really trying to step-up their game.
Worth the watch, no hesitations or regrets. Everything was put nicely, no unnecessary dramas. It deserves recognition.
Actually, the issue rn is quite alarming and concerning since the trainees involved are front runners and are mostly centers for the third performance. There's a rumour (only a rumour) that they temporarily stopped filming.... IDK if that's true
My top 5 performances from 2nd Public Performance would be 1. Feng Ding (Oscar's Team) 2. You Better Not Think About Me ( Yu Gengyin's Team) 3. The Whale Transformed Into an Isolated Island (Liu Yu's Team) 4. Believer (Keyu's Team) 5. Joker (Rikimaru's Team)
I was surprised that I loved the original rap since I don't like that genre very much but I was screaming and vibing throughout the whole performance. The Hook was so good. And next comes the vocal specialty which made me emotional. They were just moving around the stage but took my breath away as each and every emotion felt. Combining those 5 who has such great vocal skills led to that wonderful performance.
This public performance was actually a lot better than the first one in my opinion. None of these performances is THAT bad, some are so-so while some really stood out. I like that other trainees are starting to show and improve. I don't want to watch the next elimination because I think it would break my heart.
pt2. episode 6. ➥ Fix Me⤏ PRACTICE: All the arrangement and different styles they played sounded good and…
I was also surprised that out of all the performances, the vocal specialty (You Better Not Think About Me) would be my favorite. It was so well done, and combining 5 of them who clearly has good vocal skills and perfect song choice made it heaven. They were just standing there, sometimes walking around the stage, but they delivered such a great performance. I was so emotional.
This series is the most all the time overrated BL series. It does not deserve what it is currently rated in here.…
Isn't that the point of the series? I think that's the message they were trying to tell. It is a coming-of-age series that clearly portrays the struggles of the character. It shows how they are overcoming internal conflicts commonly experienced by queer teenagers. I'm gay and I've seen numerous watchers here as well that we relate to the characters especially Teh with how he managed his emotions. His decisions obv led to consequences and I think that's clearly the point or message they wanted to show...The mere outcome of every decision we make. And admit it or not, we've made some quite immature and silly decisions when we were in our teenage years. It's a coming of age series so it will tackle character development and maturity throughout the show. It is very relatable. That's what made it the best for us.
Just saw the teaser and I am expecting a lot tonight. The only problem I noticed on the performances is with the camera works, I think it doesn't give justice to their performances. I liked the grandness of the stage performance but I enjoyed watching the dance practice more.
Another thing that bothers me is the voting scheme of the show. I'm quite not satisfied with how they just solely base the fate of the trainees on the vote itself. I think they should also take into consideration the mentor's comments or evaluation in terms of selecting who will proceed. I know that in order to successfully create a boy group, you need popularity and fans, but sometimes I feel sad that popularity beats talent. Not to mention the screentime of trainees during episodes. For instance, Lai Yaoxiang isn't that popular (I guess internationally, IDK in China) and I only noticed him when he moved from Class F to A. Then he immediately got eliminated just because he didn't get enough votes. The mentor put him in Class A because based on their evaluation, he has potential and it's sad to see him go that fast because he wasn't noticed by fans before, and I think screentime played a big part in that. There were over or at least 90 trainees and I know that they can't all fit everyone in an episode. MY MAIN POINT HERE IS JUST I wish that the elimination is not only based on votes itself but should also take into consideration the mentor's evaluation or even the other trainees perspective. I know popularity plays a big role here but what about those that actually have potential or such great talent.
Nonetheless, I know that they are all talented.
PS. I haven't watched any idol survival shows any of my life, this is my first time. This is only my opinion from my perspective. :)
I've seen mixed reactions towards this series. I am in the middle of this, I still can't decide. Because there are some points that I feel like it is dragged but there are also times that it adds up to the first season.
I am a sucker for melodrama series, especially sad ones so this was a very good episode for me. I love the kind of romantic sadness that it gives but not to the point where it is heart-wrenching. Looking back, it would probably be one of the best-produced series of GMMTV. This comes second for my fav Thai Series.
I liked the interaction between the characters in this ep. I feel like certain scenes added depth to their personality. IDK if it's just me but Tum and Tiffy are really growing on me. I love their small and pure interactions as well as they can shine on their own scenes as good managers of artists. I do see development in characters especially to those who I just mentioned. So far so good
I am a sucker for slice of life and emotional dramas. I feel like this is going to be good and i am kinda happy how the majority loves this show as well. I do feel that something heavy will happen towards the end, but I really hope it doesn't. So far so good
IMO, tbh this was 'okay' for me. far from good but not that bad. i am team sun oh as well however after watching all eps, hye yeong kinda grew on me and (i'm scared to say this but) i'm kinda okay with the outcomes if I might say?? ofcourse I would still be very happy if Sun Oh was chosen.
If reminds me a lot or (IMO) resembles the love triangle on Hunger Games (Gale vs. Peeta). Just my opinion.
I would have loved this drama much more, of course, if Sun Oh was the end game however I already accepted the ending and I see the good in it.
