Binged it. Loved it. Many thanks to the MDL’rs who left breadcrumbs in the comments below so I could find places to watch this with good video and subs. Definitely one of the better recent short dramas. The second ml stole my heart and should be listed as a main role.

I was ready to add this drama to my rewatch list until that last episode-for all the reasons listed above. A great premise that went off track at the end.

I think if you check Soonsetra’s profile page on MDL you will find links to other dramas she’s subbed. I put Half Awake a Fleeting Life (Ban XingFu Sheng) in my ptw list. I tried to watch it on YouTube and couldn’t get past the first few minutes. It made no sense, the subs were terrible and out of sync. Happy drama watching 😊

I finished it. It was a good ending. I would love to see this couple again, maybe in a Republican era spy or detective drama.😊

I agree about blinding white backlighting. It was overused and interfered with many of the scenes.

I agree about the director and screenwriter. The wedding scene was a misdirection and time wasted when they could have set up the rumblings of backlash in the court. Pie did have a multitude of sins to pay for and I can accept a tragic end when it’s well set up (Scarlet Heart, Way Back Love.) Anyway thank you for responding. I look forward to finishing The Demon now that I know the comedy isn’t camouflaging a tragedy.

Yes, I did watch that and wanted to be sure they didn’t pull that trick in this drama. While that Easter Egg was cute it didn’t resolve my feelings about the actual ending, and it felt like fan service or the director trying to have it both ways and keep everyone happy. I loved that drama…until the last episode.

Good review and I completely agree. One of the better short dramas. I watched all episodes at once and it did seem to slow slightly around episode 16, but it picked up again quickly. The final arc was my favorite and the end was satisfying. I liked the twist with the sisters.

It can takes dedicated detective work to watch some of these dramas. 😂 I remember watching The Killer is also Romantic and the subs were terrible. Then one kind soul posted a link in the comments where they had subbed the entire thing. What a difference!

I’m not sure about the subs because I stopped at episode 9 until they finish releasing all episodes. Subs were adequate up till then, but I remember they were pretty bad in some of the later episodes when I watched on another site. That’s one reason why I want to rewatch it. I hope they fix the subs.

Thank you for saving me some frustration. Your reviews are always excellent. I was on the fence with this one and thought it might be something to pick up between dramas, but after reading your review, I’m going to skip it. I’m tired of these juvenile plot lines, and poor wardrobe styling is annoying in the best of stories.

I will try to rewatch it when it finishes airing on YouTube, but that will be awhile. As of today, 8/21, they are only on episode 10 😢

Great review. And what a couple! They had great chemistry and the dialogue sizzled as much as the skinship. I thought the last 4 episodes felt a little off so I rated it 8.5. However if I compare it to a lot of other dramas out there, both long and short, it’s a 10. I also think it would be more popular if the episodes were easier to find and the YouTube release wasn’t so agonizingly slow. It could benefit from better subs too.
