I might rewatch it. I think there's a recurrent theme here that i find in the director's other work and i struggle trying to guess what he's trying to convey. If you can't guess, go check out his other series: More Than Words.
As whether it's a BL or bromance, i think its up to interpretation. In the finale, both Ryu and Johan said "I love you" but I'm not sure if it's in a romantic sense, but is it common for friends to say that to each other? I'm not sure lol, maybe i should broaden my horizons. Another thing that interested me is the gay side characters. Ep 1 began with a teen arguing with his father. Arata confessing his feelings for Ryu, though i guess we would never find out what happened to him. Lastly, the bar owner. All of them left an impact on our main leads. To me, it's a bromance with gay characters. But they can't be reduced to "just friends". I think what they had is deeper than friendship but not quite romantic as we know it.
That doesn't mean it's bad. I had expected more, and i waited for this series for a long time. But that's on me i guess.
The only bromance that i quite enjoyed watching is Night Flight, a 2014 gay korean movie. Desire and friendship are handled more delicately in that movie.
its not the untamed era that you have to do bromance because of gov nowadays even China have better bls
Agreed, but i don't think it was their intention to begin with. I knew it since they cast Ok Taecyeon like it was too good to be true lmao. But then again, its probably my bad for expecting more. Kinda hoped it could be another Love in the Big City, at least. Oh, well.
Same for Indonesian Netflix, it's even tagged as friendship in the more details section. It worries me a bit,…
Alright I'm relieved. I also tried to use a US VPN and i saw an LGBT tag, but it was missing in my country's Netflix. I suppose thats because my country's homophobic, but i also fear they might cut some scenes for us here. Either way, I'm glad that it is indeed only in my country. I may have to use a VPN when the series comes out.
This has comforting found family with a side of angst written all over it and Japan does those so well. Interestingly…

I get the feeling that yes, they would be gay people, but actually do not show love or intimacy in that context,…
I think we shouldn't label it as BL. These days almost every media that has gay romance is tagged as that, even though its not quite right to call it BL. Though, maybe what people consider BL is different from me, so correct me if I'm wrong.
Judging by the trailer, I think it's neither bl nor entirely bromance. It's going to lie somewhere in between.…
Thank you for saying the last bit, I'm a gay man, I definitely want to watch two men fall in love. Although, I'd be bummed if its not gonna be romance between two guys, I'd still look forward to it. Its just I've been waiting for over two years for this series, I'll definitely be disappointed if it turns out to be platonic. But there's nothing wrong with that.
So I believed I heard XJH's Dad was involved in LGM's parents death and he is getting close to XJH for revenge? Why…
Its a lot more interesting if you read the novel, i highly recommend it! ^^ i don't want to spoil anything but the answers are really intriguing and you should find out on your own imo
What's going on with people... can they separate the actors from characters? Why would anybody hate somebody you…
Theres a rumor about He Chang Xi and his role in other chinese drama got censored, they even had his face changed with AI. Chinese govt is really strict about BLs and some people just hate anything to do with gay people. Hopefully he gets more roles after this drama finishes airing 🙏
