Everything you’re saying here is exactly the way I feel. There are so many BL I drop due to the fact they’re so cliché and so homophobic (SOTUS was the most recent one because my god could Krist get any more homophobic in that series). I’m also a gay woman. I watch BL and GL and find more toxic tropes in BL than I have in GL. Don’t get me wrong though because sometimes I do enjoy toxic stuff but only in certain ways. The relationship on screen can be toxic at first as long as the actors relate to each other and the show and have a shred of chemistry. Otherwise it’s just a show that pretends it’s not toxic but really is.

As a gay man himself I think he can really tell the gay experience better than a straight director can. Not saying that straight directors are bad at telling gay stories just that gay directors bring their own person experience when directing how a story will play out.

Asian horror is on another level of amazing! Cannot wait for this as there are some great actors involved and the storyline is really unique. This is kind of like Lord of the Flies meet Hunger Games. Should be interesting to watch.
