-_- I just extended my subscription just to watch Marco cry?!
Nope. You extended it to watch Bas, standing at the ocean with tears in his eyes. And the goofy lovestruck look on James' face when he blows the kiss to Ait. And the dead-empty look in Bas' eyes when he declares he wants to kill himself. And to hear the passionate music get abruptly cut off TWICE when James goes to kiss Ait. And yes, also to see Marco cry. This episode has sooooo many great moments.
I was not so enthused about the early episodes of this series, but it has really developed, and has completely engaged me. I can't wait to see Ep 6 and how this all gets sorted out.
Michael's acting is wonderful and Bas is the most sympathetic BL character I've seen so far this year. The "I want to kill myself" line was utterly devastating, and beautifully delivered. Marco, only shown briefly in this episode, is now a central character; his tears surprise the viewers and create serious plot tension for Ep 6. And Benz has gradually made Ait into a character you feel for, instead of for the buffoon in the first ep. He is soooo young (and so stupid, but let's leave that aside....)
That said, the supposed focus of the plot (the Ait-James love affair) continues to require a lot of willing suspension of disbelief. All the dumb things they do which are leading to the whole production team knowing about them....sheesh. But alongside that, it is very interesting and surprising to me that Director Aam has succeeded, in only a few short episodes, in building real interest and engagement and empathy for the supporting characters.
Honestly, I think we are going to conclude this series is way too short. I can't see how all this stuff can be thoroughly wrapped up in one more episode.
I also liked the first two Serpiente episodes.........can somebody who understands Filipino view this tearful "apology video" and give us a three-sentence summary of what happened? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxGvJ46yWes
I'm not a full-on BL follower, but this gotta be the most tender sensual one I've seen in GMMTV. I can feel it…
I could do without the slapstick comedy and Duean's screaming into the camera.....but I can't stop watching Mork. He is so tender and so sweet and (seemingly) sincere. I just love every Mork scene. Great acting work by Pond.
If they complete their season on Heart of Asia channel by GMA, I think Boys' Lockdown should be given the official…
Yes, I was rather pleasantly surprised to see that GMA decided to air the series. Please do watch the final episode and come back to let us know if it has been cut at all. (I'm not inside the Philippines and can't see for myself!)
Y'all might be interested in this interview with the producer and director of this series. They talk a little bit about the actors, and what moved them to want to make this series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqvYCkSJDxI
ok, so this is obviously adorable ect........ but am i the only one wondering how he managed to hide a marriage…
Don't underestimate the power of the "don't ask, don't tell" ethos. Where many Western families that are curious might try to probe (pry?) into a family member's social life, some or many Asian families when they suspect the truth are happy to just not probe very deeply, preferring to maintain a surface harmony. I came out to my family (in another continent) about my long-term relationship after about 3 years; it took my partner 16 years to tell his family the truth -- and they live in the same city we do!!!! They were happy not being told, and he was happy not telling. I just watch with bemusement. (In fairness, though, his parents were already gone when we met, so he just was dealing with siblings and extended family.)
The third episode was pretty good, actually. This is looking rather more interesting than I initially thought. The director seems to have found his pace, on the story-telling. Much of the episode was concerned with the backstory, and the clarifications were very helpful. Really good editing work on the montage of sexy scenes when telling the story of Pablo -- the music was excellent and the scenes were cut well together. He's definitely the sex appeal in this series -- what a body!!
Ep. 4 was a bit slow, I have to admit. (Although the scene in the restaurant was brilliant. Especially when the camera turned around and Ait and James had disappeared.)
Michael must be doing a really good job, because my heart is breaking for poor Bas.....
Ait struck me as pretty creepy in the way he came on to James early in the series. Now that it's obvious the feelings are mutual, it doesn't feel so icky.
This movie has been recently revived on Gagaoolala. It's an interesting emotional study of a relationship that is being questioned, because one of the guys is married and is being drawn away. Make no mistake -- this is not light and fluffy BL; it is rather intense LGBT cinema. There's no external drama; it all takes place in one night, as the two characters interact. (This sort of format pre-dated the pandemic by 10 years, surprise, surprise!)
The rating shown ("violence and profanity") is inaccurate....there is no violence whatsoever in this movie. Just plenty of sex. In keeping with the "Indie LGBT" niche, the sex scenes are considerably more steamy than is the current trend. Oh, and the two actors (who have gone on to have broad careers) do have very nice bodies.......
There's one amusing scene where they are cooking, and they get.....ummm.....distracted by each other, ending up in passionate embrace on the floor. I wanna know how many people in the audience had their minds distracted by worrying about the sauce burning?
The rating for this series is still way too high. It has nothing going for it other than pretty faces. It is completely filler and full of absurdity, as Pirado says. I’m dropping.
So there are two levels to this....the social commentary level and the plot level. The social commentary is interesting, and well placed. The plot....well I’m not convinced. Ait barely met the director (James) and within two minutes he’s doing everything but licking his lascivious little lips and batting his eyelashes. It’s rather too forced for my liking. More interested to see what happens with Bas, who seems sincere and likable. Definitely going to tune in to see how this develops.

Yes. I had exactly the same feeling. Instead of feeling sympathetic to Ait, it kinda creeped me out......
