I really enjoyed the "village vibe" of this series. In many ways, the series presents aspects of traditional Thai culture better than any of the series that follows well-off characters set in a Bangkok university. Life is hard for rural villagers in SE Asia and the series approaches those problems with open eyes.

I also like the music, which isn't international muzak -- it has its roots in traditional Thai music....lots of khlui flutes playing. That adds to the interest of the series. The production values are surprisingly good for a rural-based creative enterprise. There are many pretty shots of the countryside and the villages.

And....I really like most of the actors! They are generally very good looking and "fresh." According to their very brief bios in MDL they are mostly students at Maha Sarakham University which means they are really far from the Bangkok media industry. (And if the student body looks like these guys, the university must have a beautiful campus indeed.) Their performances may not have been highly polished, but they were earnest......and lord what lovely eyes they have, to look into.

I think Gagaoolala has a free trial period. www.gagaoolala.com
Thanks for the info. I deleted my previous comment, as clearly my info was out of date.

Title Light Spoiler
Is it really really heavy or can a weak heart watch it without slowly dying?
It is heavy. If you can't bear the thought of rape, don't watch it. On the other hand, I would not say it is really really heavy. And the story arc ends in redemption, and love. So it leavesyou with a good feeling. (Just don't stop watching halfway through......)

I have to say that the lesbian vibrator scene took this series to a new low. (For anyone who wants to rush off and look at it, you can find it in Ep. 10 Part 2.) Somehow, I think even our lesbian sisters would strongly object to this farcical "representation."

Oxin films isnt involved with this, but Oxin has announced a my day sequel with miko called my story. Doubt aki…
Aki has made repeated public statements that he would not be a part of any sequel to My Day. Based on the trailer for My Story, I’m assuming the plot will be that Ace died suddenly and left all his wealth to Sky.

I think the objection to Ait & James is that it comes off as fantasy-fulfillment by the director, which obscures…
But I think we also have to remember that this plot is grounded in actual events…..,and one of those events was the revelation of the relationship between an actor and a director. So they can’t wholly turn away from James and Ait.

YOOOOOOOOO they got me with the old switch-a-roo … flipped it and reversed it aaaaahhhhhhh gurl I was screaming…
Ha! ANYBODY who has watched the movie knows EXACTLY what you are talking about. That scene was so memorable, not only for the messaging against silly stereotypes, but also for wonderful acting and beautiful photography. Oh, the feels!! Definitely one for the record books.

Should i watch the first season to understand the second one ?
Yes, I think you should watch Season 1 first. I agree with kaysi about cringey elements, but there are also a couple of fantastic scenes (notably involving actor Michael Kiettisak) that you should not miss. And then you can look forward to seeing Season 2.

Title Ossan's Love
so how is the bl content in this? can anyone give me a rundown lol
Not sure exactly what you're asking about.....if it's skin, there is not much. (A couple of nice but brief shirtless scenes with Edan Lui.) There is no sex of any kind; the kisses are all of the closed-mouth variety. On the other hand, if you're interested in the relationship between the two lead characters, that is rather interesting. Both of them have psychological barriers they have to overcome, and Siu Muk has family issues that intervene as well.

The real star aspect of this show is the way it uses humor and pathos side-by-side to depict gay relationships as part of a kaleidoscope of human interactions. (Including even gay marriage, which is a taboo for the HK establishment). The gay romance is in the end accepted by everyone who matters and both gay and straight lovers get to pursue their lives. It's inclusive, rather than having a profound exclusive focus on the BL relationship.

Be careful!!!! You need to buy a ticket for an INTERNATIONAL screening. The ones for the Philippines show a version with no subtitles!!

Hi! Is the series on Netflix part one and the movie part two? Or each are stand alone? Where is the movie? Ty!
Yes...the movie is part 2, and follows directly from the series that you can see on Netflix. The movie is currently available for international streamed screenings (with English subtitles), and you can find the schedule and buy tickets here: https://ticket2me.net/e/33556
On Gameboys: The Movie Jul 31, 2021
The movie is truly excellent. Like the series, it is an emotional rollercoaster, and gives the viewers many different reasons to love and empathize with the lead characters.

I was interested that the traumatic aspects of LGBT love and the struggle for acceptance are much more visible in the movie (than in the original series) from the very beginning. This time, not mainly for Cairo, but for Gavreel, and Terrence too. We learn that Gavreel's grandmother's death was not the only trauma of his youth......and that Terrence still has nightmares about his coming-out conversation with his father. Powerful stuff from screenwriter Ash Malanum.

That’s why I can’t rewatch the entire series. I have watched the finale every day since it’s release. From…
The finale has some of the most awesome acting of the series! The scene where Teh and Oh meet up in the office, and then talk on the rooftop....omigod, the emotions that Billkin portrays just through his face, often without saying anything. And then the scene in the theater, watching Oh get teary as he realizes his life story is on the stage. This episode in particular is just sublime.

Just finished this series. I dont mind the ending, but somehow it feels ... empty. there is not enough redemption…
I understand your feeling.....but having just completed my "one month after" rewatch, I will tell you that series in particular is a great one for seeing a second time! Already knowing the plot, and the conclusion, frees the viewer to focus more on the awesome acting, the beautiful cinematography, and the background music. I have upgraded my feeling about IPYTM from "good" to "great" after the rewatch.

The best option is to use a VPN to watch it on Viu TV Singapore. (As an English speaker, I am like you very frustrated that it is not available on Viu TV Hong Kong with English subtitles.) It can also be found on various pirate sites, with English subs.

I think you will be amused to think that this produced the venomous reaction from the troglodytes. It is a very mild (and funny) romance series that features gay as well as straight couples. In any real "world city" it would have passed totally unnoticed, and of course it is much less spicy than programming carried on broadcast TV in Thailand and Taiwan. The fact that it has been overwhelmingly popular with the younger strata of HK's population is an empirical validation of the social gulf that exists between rulers and ruled in Hong Kong.

Title Stuck On You
From its start in the first episodes as a light and humorous little sketch, this has turned into quite a profound drama. The relationship between the two characters has become very complicated......and very human. They both have failings and conflicted feelings; they both have the capacity to love if they can learn to recognize it. But they are petty. They hurt each other deeply. They yearn for each other. They are thrown together but not necessarily fated to stay together. Their relationship is anything but clear. (We'll have to wait for the finale to see how we leave them!)

The actors are awesome. Yves, in particular has presented JM's evolution in the most wonderful way. Iyo plays Reb as so vulnerable and so needy.....and frankly as a bit of a drama queen. (Do you know people like that? I sure do.) Ep. 7 allows you to see the entire range of emotions the actors are playing and it is impressive -- from the opening flashback of the romantic kiss in Ep. 6 to studied indifference to the ongoing fights.

And through all of this they have created the very signature of fine drama -- they have made the audience truly CARE about what will happen.

Do ep 7 airs todays as scheduled?
For the last two weeks, these episodes have been airing on Saturdays at 8 pm Manila time. I dunno why they changed from Fridays, earlier in the series.
On Call It What You Want Season 2 Jul 24, 2021
The second series is off to a great start with Ep 1. This episode had no plot development, but a helluva lot of relationship development and that was great. The scene where Bas is looking deeply at Marco, and the camera zooms in to focus (lovingly if I may say) on Marco's face is an awesome bit of cinematography. Marco is obviously a saint (especially as he stayed with Bas and comforted him, after the...um....explosive meal they had.) Michael's portrayal of Bas continues to be excellent.......from thoughts of death, he brings Bas to focusing on life, and it is a very sympathetic and engaging performance.

I also like Ait a bit more in this ep -- he seemed more human (cooking for James, pushing James to call Marco) and less obnoxiously flirty than in Season 1.

And.....no one who has tried "from outside" to master an Asian tonal language can fail to be amused by the little language lesson Marco gives Bas.

I'm looking forward to the coming episodes.

I think Gagaoolala offers the first month free.....so if you wait until more of the series has been released you can binge the whole thing during the free month.
