"driven to suicide by the unrelenting, incoherent demands of people exactly like you?"

Not exactly like me, I don't do that. He could smoke whatever he wanted, for all I care.

"Folks like you and your Puritanical/punitive attitudes"

I'm not Puritanic and I don't engage in punitive attitudes.

"you're promoting the idea that smoking weed is a dreadful crime."

No I'm not. Read again and find any passage where I say that. I don't even think it is a crime.

"Good to know you're still in support of that strain of government interference in the personal lives of its people"

Nope, wrong once gain. I clearly said that I wasn't even talking about the laws, but about the reaction of the people.

"a promoter of good, old-fashioned Korean military dictatorship-style laws."

I didn't promote or express approval to Korean laws.

After all these blatantly wrong interpretations, I would suggest for you to re-read all my posts. If you're going to disagree with me, at least do it for the right reasons.

"it is something that needs to change over there immediately"

Like an authoritarian American leader who has no respect for other people's countries and cultures you say that simply because Korea does not hold the same views regarding drug use as you.

You can only conceive your way of thinking and you are willing to impose that on others without respecting their own time, just like your presidents invade, bomb and impose sanctions on other people's countries thinking they are justified in doing so.

Your country is lenient with both rapers, drug dealers and drug abusers and yet you think you have the moral ground to say how Koreans should treat their drug abusers.

I have nothing else to say to you.

The treatment he received is the manifestation of Korean People's dislike for drug users! That's what you are ignoring, dismissing and disrespecting by calling it a
"minuscule thing". Well, the public does not think it is a minuscule thing.

Also, we are talking about the people's perception and attitude, the other cases you mentioned or the judicial system have nothing to do with it.

The fact that he did probation also has nothing to do with it, since the people is free to reject one artist who did something they utterly repudiate! That's something that you're still ignoring and disrespecting.

You also cannot portray him as an innocent victim. He was a grown man, he knows his society and that they do not tolerate drug use. And yet, even as a very famous person, he chose to do it anyway and got caught. He has responsibility.

And yet you only use your thinking considering his side. Empathy is not applied only to what we agree with, it is not applied only to the people we admire, it is not applied only when it favors us... In this case you're not showing any empathy for the Korean public and their cultural stance on drug use.

You're ignoring and disrespecting Korean culture. They have a strong dislike for drug use and you simply dismissed them by saying it is something "minuscule".

The other cases that you mentioned do not justify this dismissal. In fact, many women throughout western nations suffer various forms of abuse and also have their complaints dismissed, also as "minuscule".

We should hope that Korea starts to better protect and respect their women, but we don't have to dismiss their culture of disapproval of drug use.

Why do you ignore other people's culture? It is clearly not minuscule for them, so it's pretty insensible on your part to minimize it. How would you feel if someone else minimized something that bothers you because it means nothing to them? Have some empathy.
