* Yeon Shi Eun: son of divorced parents who basically leave him alone (a lot) with no actual interest, love or warmth offered. The webtoon tells us he tries to fill the emptiness with endless knowledge, studying even outside the scope of his curriculum. Lonely. * Oh Beom Seok: adoption as a political stunt, and regular beatings from his adoptive parent. Lonely. * Ahn Soo Ho: works 3 jobs while being raised by grandmother, wanted to be an MMA fighter but probably lacked funds to pursue it. Lonely, despite lots of social interactions, e.g. girlfriends, social media interactions, work colleagues. * Jeon Young Bin: Privileged family, but largely left to own devices (drinking/drugs). * Young Yi / Jeon Seok Dae: street kids likely to have racked up debt to Gil Su and ended up in his employ. Regularly abused and threatened.
Jeon Young Bin (and his bully boys) targeted Yeon Shi Eun because he was isolated, and appeared weak. They chose wrong. The more bullies get away with things, the further they take it. I’ve seen it for myself in real life, kids hospitalised with life-altering injuries following attacks by classmates. Just because you have no experience of it doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.
Unrealistic to drug a fellow student? Read the news.
As to the effects of Fentanyl, as someone who has taken it in the past (on prescription) with little to no effect, I can testify that reactions can vary; albeit the reaction Yeon Shi Eun had to a patch was in line with the effects Fentanyl can have (minus the euphoria). Fentanyl is a powerful opioid seeing an increase in abuse and deaths in recent years. Slapping himself (releasing adrenaline) would be one way to counteract the drowsiness that Yeon Shi Eun was feeling without going to see a doctor and abandoning his exams.
I agree Yeon Shi Eun comes across as scary when the red mist descends. Even Ahn Soo Ho is taken aback by it at the beginning of Episode 2, which is why he (Ahn Soo Ho) tries to de-escalate the tensions in and outside the classroom.
As to Yeon Shi Eun’s actions being unexplained: He asks people to stop, nicely at first. When they don’t stop and he’s had enough, he takes action. There is only so much one person can take before snapping. In order for him to get the message through to them, he has to go one-up because they just don’t take the hint so his retaliations are a little more extreme.
I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy the drama. Perhaps my life experience made it more accessible for me.
Can you plz give me the short vr of what the whole webtoon is about? Is it more on bullying then fighting an enemy,…
The webtoon is focussed on Yeon Shi Eun's (Gray Yeon) time at Eujang High School, and the series you've just watched is only shown in flashbacks as a basis for his behaviour at Eujang.
Gray does acquire some new allies (friends?), but they are all up against an organisation called The Union who rule several schools / projects in the area.
Spotted: Translation difference. On GagaOOLala, the question Amagi asks Tanaka is in reference to Tanaka and Amagi…
So, which has the better translations. I watched the GagaOoLala one first, and felt very differently about Tanaka's attitude then when I watched the Viki transations, which had unfortunate connotations for Tanaka's character.
QUESTION on Ep 5Why was Ji Hoon carrying Jae Woo on his back as if he were injured or drunk, when all that had…
I wonder if some scenes have been cut? For instance, as the stills in the end credits appear to have images from scenes that don't exist, e.g. Shin Jae Wood with his injured arm sitting in a chair next to Kang Ji Hoon apparently in conversation.

Ahn Soo Ho (Stephen) was relocated and his status / whereabouts remains unknown at this time.
Gray does acquire some new allies (friends?), but they are all up against an organisation called The Union who rule several schools / projects in the area.
So came off stalker like / creepy in the beginning, and he couldn't shake that vibe for me.
I also find the English used is often confusing on Viki (if not grammatically unsound), and I can better comprehend the translations at GagaOoLala.
* Very confused *
Of course, those stills could be from episodes 7 & 8?
