This article is genus! Just like you said, many people are shooting at translators to hurry up, it's not that hard... I sometimes translate videos on YouTube, and while there are significantly less lines there, at moments I want to scream at them. I can only imagine how you must feel. I really wish for a part two, and I wish you a good year!
Rain scenes, piggy-back rides... and so many more! I quite hate the wrist/forearm grabbing. Unless it's for kissing the other person, it's totally unnecessary and annoying :( The getting sick one - I've noticed in manga, anime, dramas... It's usually the FL (sometimes it's the ML, but not that often), they get sick from just being in rain/water for five minutes (do all Asians have such poor immune systems?) and it goes away after just one/half night under the blanket. When I get a bad cold (like they seem to get all the time) I'm usually knocked out for at least three days. And the piggy-back rides are quite usually due to the girl being drunk. This one I hate especially: do they have to drink so much?
I just finished the first - FIRST - episode and I'm hellishly confused. The subs on drama.net are glitching and I have no idea what's going on, who is who, there's no introduction... I hope it'll all clear up in the upcoming episodes. Until then!
I have to admit, I picked this drama up only to see Taehyung in action. His character did not disappoint me, but he did jump out of nowhere XD
Honestly, I'm still not really sure why the Hwarang was put to life - as royal guards? - and I also feel like it wasn't that necessary. The queen... Oh dear, don't start me on the queen. She was so fake and stiff I couldn't help but laugh every time I saw her on the screen. When there's an older female leading a country, you can only expect her to have ulterior motive.
It's a pity - regarding Ah Ro. In my opinion, she would look good with Ji Dwi from the beginning of the series, but Ji Dwi as the king was somewhat getting on my nerves. I don't know, the "hidden" look suited him better.
Going back to Taehyung, or rather to Han Sung, when he died it was the only time I cried during this drama. His death was totally unnecessary, like many others. I wonder if Ah Ro ever got to know he passed away, and how did she react. I assume she cried :(
The last thing I wonder is whose was that kid at the end? I'm thinking it was Ji Dwi's, which leads me to question if he finally married his sister or if he broke that tradition and found a girl he came to love.
I'm more of a third type person. Even though I do have some titles I want to watch on my list, it's hard for me to pick which one to take on. More often than not I pick dramas I don't even have on my list XD
I cried. Boy, I cried in the end. I'm really not good at writing reviews, so I'll just pour my thoughts here.
1. The "Let's go" in the end and them vanishing - I felt like this was their final goodbye, from both of them. I'm having a hard time believing that Sung Yeol got out of the rumble, but it could be achievable - if he didn't take his coat off. Then, as Sung Yeol and Yang Sun met, they both died. Like, really died, that's how I felt it looked like. I hate endings like these, but we all know Sung Yeol would never turn Yang Sun.
2. I am a strong supporter of vampire bites, and in this department I was severely disappointed. I wanted action! Lust! Sensual neck-lookovers! Not this pitiful shit Gwi called biting. I was so waiting for either Gwi or Sung Yeol to bite Yang Sun, which leads me to ->
3. After tasting her blood off the tree bark, Gwi was so adamant on getting his hands on Yang Sun. And when they finally met, despite him being so obsessed over her blood (okay, I may be exaggerating) he didn't even try to bite her! WTAF! Other thing about Gwi, or rather the actor playing him: I don't know if it's just his face, but he looked like he had dumplings shoved into his mouth and had to play with them the entire time.
4. I heavily started hating on Sung Yeol. Goody two-shoes, had to appear at every moment I didn't want him to, and do everything he could to f*** things up. Gwi will surely find Yang Sun? The Night Scholar has to appear and take her away. Every. Single. F***. Time.
5. I know there are heavy topics, like the people dying, and the government breaking, but from episode 11/12 until the end I was so wiped out emotionally by all the crying I wanted to stop. I didn't cry, don't get me wrong, it was just really tiring watching them cry. Like, when an episode ended, I had to go out on my balcony and get some fresh air to stoop being so dulled.
6. A common trope I find in dramas, which annoy me to no end, is when you have a supposedly strong and leel-headed female lead, and she does this - once she cries, she will cry every ten to fifteen minutes until the end of the series. Like OEMGEE seriously? -.-
All cliches presented both in the article and in the comments are so true! Other thing I absolutely hate: once the main female lead starts crying (despite being a strong character) she will cry until the end of the series, every 10-15 minutes on average. Right now I'm watching Scholar Who Walks The Night and ep 13 was really hard for me - I was mentally tired of all this crying and I wanted to skip part after part so badly! But I held on. What also annoys me about this drama: I absolutely long for Yang Sun to meet with Gwi, I've been wanting this since their first "encounter" (I'm at ep 14 so I don't know if it happens at all), but of freakin' course whenever the chance is the highest (like Gwi looking for her on purpose or random encounter), Sung Yeol is there to "save the day" and get Yang Sun as far away from Gwi as possible. Well, that doesn't make MY day.
I just couldn't get over it - even though they have kids and should be loving and doting parents, they were standing in front of the gate like 'it's not my business you're crying' :<
I really like Kinder Bueno White (can't remember the manufakturer, I think it was a German company). As for asian sweets - I don't know, I've never tried them ;)
I really wish for a part two, and I wish you a good year!
