I definitely loved this series. That being said, it is flawed. The last few episodes were out of place and poorly worked out. Gene literally told his father he wanted to be with Nubsib no matter what, and then PROMISED Nubsib that they would face big problems together and then Gene just dropped the ball. Wut? I was really annoyed by the character of Aoey, however. I have no problem with a dramatic villian character in general. But the director kept showing long shots of Aoey crying and alone as though the viewers were supposed to feel sorry for him. However, they never really gave him any redeeming qualities to make us see the good side of Aoey. I thought he might have some sort of redemption arch with Mhok (after their kiss, I was more than ready for that) or maybe some sort of reconciliation with his sister/family, but then there was nothing. Without some sort of redemption, I would have found his character a thousand times more interesting if Aoey was enjoying all the chaos and pain that he was causing. It would have given him a motive. Just imagine how creepy he could have been if he was slyly smirking over Gene's tears, etc. Even though this comment is so critical, I want to say again that I loved this drama. I just needed to vent a little bit. Overall the drama was fresh and fun, the actors were excellent, production was top notch, and the chemistry was delicious. <3
You could go through some youtube videos from AvenuX and others to find the detailed answer. The simple answer…
I feel, for me, it comes from the very very rushed feeling of the ending. I can deal with any kind of ending, but I feel like they were trying to wrap it all up in like ten minutes. I'm the kind of person that needs to wallow in my feelings and really wring every emotional drop out of my heart lol
Major respect for this drama showing a main couple that argue, learn, and grow together and are actually HAPPY together. I love it when dramas show a warm home life for our main couple even amidst emotional events around them so the viewers can actually understand why they want to be together. I don't understand why YOUKU seems to do this weird ending/not ending extra episode thing, though. They did this with Sleepless Princess too and it just kills the momentum and shifts the whole story arch in my opinion.
All the folks that find Pi (extremely) unlikable: I don't understand you at all. If I was Mork I would have been…
I agree completely with your comment! I think that Mork is using the pushy, affectionate method, though, because he understands that Pi's "hissiness" comes from a place of insecurity. And with insecure people, any backing off could be seen as rejection. Just my opinion, but I think that's why their character dynamic seems to work so well to me.
This looks adorable from the trailer and I'm definitely here for it, but there didn't seem to be much "meat" for the story. I'm wondering how they are going to keep some interesting conflict to keep the plot moving forward? It seems like just watching two people fall in love, which is nice, but doesn't really give any omg moments. I'm still gonna watch it tho lol
Yoo Jun stole the show for me. He ranged from adorable to darkly obsessive with such realism! I found the concept for the drama fascinating although, as others have said, a lot of the storylines were simply dropped. The ending felt rushed and incomplete and left the last episode feeling really flat. Even with that, I would recommend this drama.
This was cute, although I felt it got very draggy in the middle. I felt very little connection between the main leads. Not sure if this was just due to a general lack of chemistry and if there wasn't enough time spent on their romance. Overall, the acting was generally good but special shout out to Zhu Da Cong, the FL's jilted fiancee. He really stood out to me from going from a goofy comedic character to one with a lot more depth.
Just finished watching it and it was phenomenal. However, the cliffhanger ending left me largely unsatisfied. I'm not sure if I'll eventually watch season 2 as I've heard it's very meh and I would miss Li Xian quite a lot without him in the lead role. :(
While I agree that this drama is masterfully made and an interesting psychological exploration, I just had a hard time watching this. It was difficult to complete for me because there just seemed to be no relief from the dark angst that was everywhere in it. It was like looking at some sort of crime photo, I wanted to see the details but felt a sort of grim repulsion.
