Apparently, the material will be making its way to the other Disney+ markets, even if it takes a little time. I’d been using a VPN with a Hong Kong IP to watch the first part of the series, then had to take a break, so this was a pleasant surprise to find it on the main banner scroll yesterday. (And it really did just come up yesterday because we’ve been in Disney+ a lot over the last week as the husband wanted to finally make it through The Inhumans because he likes Anson Mount. It’s not as bad as I remember, but it’s still bad.)

This has just shown up on Disney+ in the US. We were watching the first episode of Ms. Marvel and there was a banner on the main feed.

I've found you can't use the VPN on the computer for Disney+. Do you have a tablet? If I set my VPN for Hong Kong on my iPad, the app works nicely. (Apparently, it reads that you're on a tablet or phone and assumes you are traveling.)

For anyone wanting to watch this and needing subs, I have found the following workaround, but it requires a Disney+ subscription and a VPN.

Set your VPN to Hong Kong, then go to Disney+ and sign into your account. It will give you a warning that says it looks like it’s you’re traveling and offerings may be different. You can then search for Delicacies Destiny.

PLEASE NOTE: the audio will be based on your usual preference, so the audio for me came up as English. I shifted it to Mandarin, because it sounded better. I did this on my iPad, because VPNing my Apple TV is a pain, but after I disconnected and got out the Disney+ app, then my husband opened something from Disney on the big screen tv (sans VPN), he was surprised to discover Encanto was now in Mandarin. So you will need to change back and forth.

Just FYI, Disney has some 20 series and films from China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Australia which are available in their Asian subscribers (and folks with a VPN), and are planning more: https://variety.com/2021/global/asia/disney-plus-asia-series-1235088819/

Scanning through the raw eps on DramaCool quickly, it almost looks like an ep of Royal Feast given the costumes. With much less harem drama.

I have to give Xu Kai Xin props for Chen Zhang. There's a term used by American screenwriters for the guy who pursues the FL but loses her to the ML, the "Bellamy." (Named after Ralph Bellamy, who played that type in many, many classic Hollywood rom-coms.

Chen Zhang was a classic Bellamy, but I liked that it never tipped over into creepdom or behaved in a manner where you felt the FL would be so much better off without him even if she didn't get the ML. I felt a little sorry for him, and if I were writing the story, I'd be thinking of a sequel where he got his own love story.

Part of me hopes he’s a bouncer at Yu’Er’s noodle palace.

Looking through the comments, I think I’m glad I paused on One and Only until Forever & Ever dropped. Now I can go from O&O straight into this, as if I just turned the page.

So they’re likely reshooting only those scenes KW was in. If they’re trimming extra, unimportant scenes, they might end up with a tighter, better series. Reshooting is what Sony Pictures did with All the Money in the World. Kevin Spacey got hit with sexual misconduct allegations, and Plummer was brought in to replace the already completed film. Spacey is still in one long shot where his face does not show, and they may not have to reshoot those. The reshoots reportedly cost Sony $10 million US.

Two days ago, I would have said a lot of Netflix viewers wouldn't have any idea this had happened. Now, the story is hitting major US media, so even if they could sell to Netflix, this might hurt their chances.

If they sell it to Netflix, they get around a number of the banned issues, don't they? And Netflix is buying more and more C-Dramas.

English subs of eight episodes are now available on WeTV, 2 standard, 6 under VIP. Guess what I’m watching at lunch? (The husband thinks it’ll be Olympic archery. So, so wrong.)

I can't post a screen shot, but it shows up on my WeTV account on my iPad on the main page toward the bottom as the first entry under "Coming on WeTV" with July 29 under the show image. All they've got at this point is trailers and some short videos, but given they put a date on the front page, I think we can count that as legit. Can they change their minds? Yes, but I was able to add it to my watchlist.

English subs are dropping on WeTV on July 29, per the site. I was just able to add this to my list.

Anyone have any luck finding English subs for this?

Might not be such a bad idea. The tech is getting better, and the time it took might give the production some breathing space from whatever happens. Expensive, but possibly less so than shelving the thing completely.

And Tencent is trending on Twitter because of this and because it was announced they are buying a British game company (which has pissed a bunch of gamers off). So anyone looking for that news is going to get hit in the face with the Kris Wu news as well.

Definitely new to historical C-Dramas, so I know there are a number of historical/cultural things I miss or don't understand. Figured I could ask rather than make assumptions, because similar Western behavior is far too often bound up in Cult of True Womanhood/Woman is Sinful Temptation.*

*My great-great-grandfather was a hellfire preacher who denounced women baring their "limbs." He was referring to forearms. It wasn't about respect.
