Agree. I started to watch it a while back, was kind of slow but maybe that was on purpose, I'll take another look…
You mean Taiga's mom right? SPOILER EP 9: I just watched the scene of her after he gets done at police station and I was thinking how much I couldn't stand her, how HORRIBLE she is....and her lecture to Minami at the station! And her self centered behavior when her son is seriously wounded at the HOSPITAL!!! Not to mention her snotty remarks about how disappointed HE made HER feel bc of his dyslexia, I agree completely...except we don't want to leave to poor little half brother motherless.....she's a piece of work w that snotty smirk on her face....always grasping for money from her son,....
"We don't fall in love just to be happy."Damn, that's profound.
Yes and I’m embarrassed to say I’m not exactly sure what sakara meant by that….meaning you can’t help who you fall in love with? I’ve only watched ep 9 four times so maybe I need to watch again to understand haha
Watching Ep 9 again, did the unhinged father report Taiga/the Club to the police? Hes making all these ominous comments to the wife about society today and police making examples of things....Also, the difference between Taiga and Minami walking into the police station: Taiga confidently in his red suit (even though he's terrified). Minami walks in, bewildered, runs into a cart and boxes fall everywhere lol. I love how clumsy they make her, always falling and tripping....Also that supercilious nun and her remora are so annoying. Maybe Sakura heard her and that's why he decided to back Taiga and Minami after parroting the school's stance before. The melancholy guitar variation on the theme as Minami goes to knock on Taiga's door is fab. Also....when Minami is sitting next to daddy w the boxcutter...I literally wanted to tell her to get back....
But he's a very old and wise 23 and she has lived at home and plays w plushies for 35 years. Emotionally they're…
Oh yes, from what I see most everyone on MDL is in love w this drama. None of us can figure out why rating is only 7.7, we think it’s a bit of prejudice bc it’s Japanese (don’t ask me why lol). It is a very well drawn, well thought out, superbly directed, written and cast, tender story that engages one from the start. Some dramas start out slow and you have to give them time. Not LTL, it grabs you from the opening scene. Which is good, bc if you watch the first episode and for some reason it doesn’t appeal to you, then drop it bc most of us LOVED the first episode and think it only got better and better from there. It’s fairly PG 13 and no spicy scenes from what I’ve seen, but the emotions run deep. TBH, I would go into it blind and let the drama surprise you, not knowing too much about the plot. The two leads by the way are at the top of Japanese culture, FL is a top actress and ML is in the #1 Jpop group Snowman. To get an idea of his talent, google INCEPTION on you tube and see his dance ability….that’s what he’s also like as an actor. The Snowman concert is also on NF and Sept 13, a documentary on his modeling career is out on Prime. Enjoy! You’re in for a treat imo.
But he's a very old and wise 23 and she has lived at home and plays w plushies for 35 years. Emotionally they're on the same page. Plus, to me, actor Raul looks much older than his age, I was shocked how young he actually was, and unless they're using heavy filters, Minami the actress looks like she's in her twenties.
Your reaction is so accurate 😂 I purposely watch LTL alone because my reactions are too embarrassing to be…
I am bribing my daughter to at least watch the first episode, and I'll be w her to make sure she actually does lol. I just want her to appreciate the brilliance. But normally I would not want to watch it in front of anyone, a lot of the time I'm in tears lol.
Also a big theme in this drama is everyone is wishing for love but the way they go about to receive it might be…
Good points. Taiga actually embodies all the things that society gives Kawahara credit for. Whereas in reality Kawahara is the stalking, lying, hypocritical self-centered "scum" that people accuse hosts of being, but he gets a pass based on his profession and place in society. Taiga is the one who is unfairly judged just based on misconceptions by people who have no true understanding of his gentle, giving nature, it happens over and over in LTL, from Minami's school to the police to Kawahara, her family, Monomo...everyone misjudges him without knowing him. I saw the cartoon part but missed that Kawahara watched them without earphones. Honestly it's so funny the way he's always shouting out loud in public. The only time Taiga ever does that is on his way to the police station. Seeing Taiga's face all worried on the way to the police, frowning, made me realize how happy he usually is (unless hes w the mother). He's a genuinely good natured, generous & mostly pretty happy person.

I know. She is truly amazing. She and the director make an incredible team, I'd really like to see them use some of the same actors for another drama. Part of the reason for the fun of this one, however, is the magic of the club. Take the club out of it and would be a little duller. The club was a bit of fantasy and magic and opened us up to a world most of us will never see (maybe nightclubs in US are same IDK). I know that they're considered "seedy" etc but as portrayed in LTL, the players all seemed like likeable people w one or two exceptions. And there were so many fun personalities in that club. I loved the president and am curious how they're going to close him out. You really wonder what the "players" are going to do next now that the club has closed. Maybe they'll all become actors lol. And yes, such a shame his dyslexia was ignored. He's young, also. I'm surprised it would go unnoticed. Truly heartbreaking that he has to live for so long not reading signs, labels, documents, Social Media, it really cripples him.

💯. And how random that we’re sitting here watching a grown man learn to write?! And loving every second. Crazy! That first ep reeled us in so skillfully
Same. I created an account just to comment. It seems like LTL is gaining a lot of traction. A lot of us are beyond…
I need to learn more about Ren, apparently he's in some movies? Hard to believe he could top Raul but I'll check him out when LTL is over, I honestly just cannot focus while LTL is still playing lol....I just keep comparing and nothing comes close....
i just realised that Learning to Love has Raul listed as a supporting actor… Hmmm, I don’t think so 🤭
Maybe that was in the contract bc at the time of filming, she was the star? And she is amazing and a fab low-key respondent w her micro expressions, big contrast to Raul's reactive face. Someone said he would only be nominated for supporting actor, unfair haha. Yes i'm in awe of his acting. And if you watch his video Induction (someone kindly posted the link, below), you'll see how his facial expressions hit it out of the park, I almost watched his face more than body when he danced. Many pro dancers can't do the facial expressions to match the body, Raul mastered that. He is incredible.
The director and writer combi said they’d love to work with each other again, and ALL they want to do is love…
Agree. I started to watch it a while back, was kind of slow but maybe that was on purpose, I'll take another look now I know who did it, based on a French film same name as I recall? What I loved right off the bat about Ai No Gakkou was how it caught our attn immediately w the scene of her jumping into the water. I love films that start out like the director has a firm hand on the story and won't take forever to tell it. And every time they used that scene in later eps, it was also terrific, especially the one where she's in front of the class telling them st like how fun/rewarding her job in publishing was and they cut to her jumping off the pier. In the interview, the director or writer said they rehearsed it once and then did for real and they commented on her athleticism w her legs bent up like that. She did a great job!

Thx, I watched that although not enough Raul lol. I love the inception video the best so far. Prime has his modeling documentary on soon. Sometime in September I read.
My God, I had to create an account just to comment here! This drama has me completely hooked — it’s not even…
