Keita Hatsukoi was terrific because it got the energy and spirit of the original manga right. I get that adaptations don't need to be 100% faithful to the original, and in fact they can be improved with clever twists (I actually liked the BL re-take on Cinderella way back near the beginning of this series, I know others did not…) but the rest of this series doesn't even get the slightly anarchic feel that was intrinsic to Kieta because of Aoki's larger-than-life take on everything. None of that energy is here, not in the writing, the direction, the editing. Blechhh.

Yes! I already love Neo, but for me, Aungpao is the real revelation of this series, he’s nailing this, and I hope they have him in a lead role soon!

Agreed. I get happier whenever Aungpao and Neo are onscreen… and I like Off and Gun just fine, but the script is just grinding their story out painfully slowly.

We’re supposed to not like him! Kwan may be the one to rescue him from himself though…

Vice Versa was terrible. The kid-as-pawn idea was beyond ridiculous, while Puen and Talay could not have been more bland. To invoke Tiwson, “how dumb!”

Even Dunk complained that he wished his character wasn't so much of a child! The series was fun enough despite the frustrations for me too, I wish the script had been gone over a couple more times to improve it before filming began, there could have been so much more here if the other characters were more fleshed out, and if we had more believable reasons for Dao and Kleun to be apart as long as they were... (Maybe this whole series would have made more sense if it were half the length!)

Impressively terrible! Was it worth it to keep watching to see if it could get any better? Not really, but you know, if Pond is in a show, there is some consolation in that. High point though was Nanon in drag, and he looked great then. All downhill since. Oh well…

I’m gonna say the producers took it, saying that they’d pay for some writers with it, but then they fled GMMTV without hiring any, leaving everyone else to guess their way through a barely fleshed-out plot line on a whiteboard with some erasure trails dragged through it. It’s the most plausible explanation of what we’re seeing.

Yeah, this is stupid, boring, and pointless otherwise. Nanon did look good in that red number and wig though.

100% with you on that (and I’m just sorry that the Pomeranian didn’t kick off a couple of episodes earlier).
