I find it weird to be mad at an innocent person when it was her dad's choice. He didn't put a knife to her father and say come save me. Also, in the memory her dad said I have to go save HER. So maybe there's more to the story that we don't know and yes I understand that that something we don't know might cause a rift between them but not because he went back to save him.
