Writer is conning everyone by turning 4 episodes into 14 episodes. Story and plot is still very limited. This kind of story can't be from a novel - looks more like those low effort fan made internet medium.
kings times stories can't have much going on for plots - very limited scenarios and then forcefully shoe-horned romances. nothing much here either. Still, after all that story does have some scope to be an avg. one. And writer does this terrible job in 1st episode itself. 1st week aka the intro week is all9[ over the place, terrible execution. Lacks coherence all around. cheap attempts at comedy. overall, writer can try and get back into game but mostly i'm expecting more new lows.
I had said it 1st week itself that writer is a hack and romance will totally ruin whatever little story it has. with copy-paste characters and everyone playing tinder hookup made it more trash. These kind of writers actually ruin the efforts of everyone involved in team.
Writer did have an idea but knew nothing how to move ahead with it or what to do with it - did a good con on broadcaster. Well, not much you expect from korean romance in the 1st place.
Such a long article with almost everything genralised and ridiculous emphasis put on a certain demography. points conveniently picked up set a narrative.
You can easily get into the story as its pretty familiar one. Good is to see no noise pollution and characters behave as an adult. Hero is the one looked bit off in whole scenario. Hero's friend can turn out to be quite good character. 1st week was intentionally slow - not only it filled the time aka stretch the story but it gave much interest in characters. Siblings nature and view is also shown better - atleast they aren't in for typical cliche of greed. Sister-in-law looked naive n ditz but not oblivious. 1st 15 minutes of 1st episode were good and surely you can nitpick about music+sfx choice, but for me it wasn't much of concern and usually kdramas have too loud background so can't say much.
Overall even with all that business struggle it was quite a +ve start.
Typical fandom comment area buzzing with typical buzzwords and defending+fighting over caricature of characters. It also shows not much is there to even talk about. substance is almost nonexistent and fandom who likes to point fingers at fictional characters and mark them with selective buzzwords is more vulgarly behaving like that.
Writer surely has pulled a good con here and writer is well acquainted with how fandoms behave.
This is what happens for overhyping things and that lies with viewers. From 1st week itself everything was clear how terrible writer is. It all across board poor writing - more like copy paste done the idiotic way. romance is go to idea of kdrama writers always - they shoehorned romance in everything. forceful addition does more harm and especially when its romantic media itself. Writer is playing open tinder and everyone is eyeing everyone else. That's how writer is filling time and earning the keep. The concept and theme actually became much of plot tool than having any purpose. Writer could have done better if kept the heroine the at centre than playing this wishy-washy ping pong of ridiculous scenarios.
Writer has nothing to show and has to fill 16 episodes. what to do - just create more nonsense and enrage the audience. love triangles usually are the cheapest trick and writer is just being that one trick hack. I'm amused how this terrible writer even got approval for the show. cliches and tropes are i everything, that makes presentation even more important and here writer put no effort at all. This is why its futile to enrage of caricature of characters whose every action is manufactured than being natural.
As expected - everything has fallen apart by 3rd week. Any semblance of keeping some ground via heroine is fast lost. Writer has no idea what to do and just doing copy-paste. corny romance antics never lead to anything when they have no substance whatsoever. This kind of story and characters never provide good returns on investment. There was nothing new to begin with, but, with better presentation it could have been digested but nope, not here and romance is more damaging factor here in the company of such a writer and director isn't upto the job either.
Overall another low quality media wasting resources.
If anyone have ever seen Asian romance dramas, they have good knowledge of how hero-heroine play ping pong for most part. If heros had given up after the multiple non responses, there wouldn't have been any of crazy fandom to begin with as there wouldn't have any of those famous drama stories. . If hero does then its romance, if anyone other does then its dangerous. Its the audience that romanticised it from the beginning.
If hero or heroine or any other character accepts the "no" then their feelings are questioned - were those feelings amounted to only that? - no effort, got over quite easily and what not - such generic responses are played on and even taken as part of judgement to suit their own narratives.. If efforts are put then that character is termed dangerous.
Writer being a hack and doing copy paste is clear from start.
Typical copy paste korean romance drama with almost no redemind feature. The one keeping this drama up is the Heroine's personality - I don't think these caricature of characters can do much for non existent story. The 1st week had +ve tone - which is good, but writer put no effort in characters and story at all. As it happens with most drama romance will bring down whatever of value is left in the show.
Overall - typical below avg. drama - heroine the saving grace.
