Wow, what a series. Love the art film feel, the intense acting, the thoughtful crazy storyline. So many statements and situations just made me go 😱. Like when Rebecca calls in YXL to ask him to make a decision. My first reaction was the same as JQF yelling at him later... How could you abandon her... But later when JQF chews Rebecca out for destroying YXL, it did make me think that her dramatic way was almost purposefully over the top to shock him into running away, which will wreck him for life. Still kind of question whether HRZ actually loves his wife like the series leaves us to believe, but I can see that HRZ loved his mom the most and that led to him loving JQF the most.
Love that these screen giants all came together for this. So well done! Yes, lots of imperfect characters, but as anyone who has been through life knows, there's rarely a right or perfect character in any family, marriage, divorce, or friend relationship.
Just watched Wang anyu’s interview for Falling Into You and he mentions that that he just wrapped this show. Sounds like an interesting change of character for him from all the sports youth ones!
Episode 25... Right when they start the seminar, it's the music from We Can't Be Friends/Before we Get Married also with Puff Kuo! I was half expecting her bff from that series to strut into the seminar.
Eps 23-24 were great. We get to finally learn about Liang Liangs back story. Whew, get those tissues ready! And they explore the idea of what justice is, that sometimes one person's justice is for them to get the punishment instead.
I also appreciate how some of the cases seem to end predictably, but then there’s a not ridiculous twist at the end that make you think about how that cheering for the underdog instinct doesn’t always turn out the way you think it will. While Liu Lang’s supposed devotion to money is dogged and caricatured, it is also an interesting foil to the kind hearted to pushover level pro bono lawyers.
Enjoying Episodes 21-22! More drama and less tDrama style comedy. A hilarious verging on cringy song & dance number in ep 20 between love interests, but I loved getting to hear a song in Taiwanese. And I really enjoyed the case with the child prodigy (15-16). Funny and heartfelt, plus a really great musical number which was highlighted a lot almost like we’re watching an mv, but I didn’t mind since the song was so great lyrics and music wise. Chen Bolin is killing it with the acting. He pulls off this great multi-layered character who you root for despite him having a number of flaws. He does cool unorthodox urbanite so well. I want to watch his nature documentary next!
It’s subtle. I would say the series is more about the cases. Think sitcom where each case wraps up in 1~2 episodes. But there are hints of it and I’m on episode 21. There is romance between two other characters.
Comedy plus lawyering…funny and enjoyable so far based on the great acting, but is there really no romance ever in this series? Or character growth? I feel like this might get too sitcom after enough cases.
