Does anybody else also find Tao Jun Hui (at least thru ep. 24) as the most confusing character yet? I'm struggling to understand his underlying motivations, in particular, his actions towards our FL. It appears as though he is brilliant, has an ethical compass and is an exceptional lawyer (perhaps even more experienced/better than our FL - - otherwise, why would she be assisting on cases?). However, there are moments when he clearly still has some kind of feelings for our FL, despite the fact that he is engaged to another. What exactly are those feelings and what is his motivation? Did he never really get over his relationship with QS (since he didn't want to break-up in the first place?) How did he meet WuFei and is he marrying because he loves her, because she comes from wealth or because it would please his mother? Is he experience regret that he didn't try harder 2 years back? If he could do it again, would QS be the one with him in the end? Is he just sorting through his feelings? What's his play here? As mentioned below, much credit to the actor - he's doing a great job of adding a lot of complexity to this role!
*A straightforward Question for everyone:-How did you guy's like XuKai's acting in this drama...please give an…
I think he fits the character, but there are moments where I'm like, hm..maybe better than average but not phenomenal. Admittedly, I do love hearing his real voice (despite some people not liking his delivery).
The Autumn Ballad is HER (and Xu Zhengxi's) drama. Qiu Yan is such a flawed yet lovely character. I love Qiao…
Totally agree! Can you give more insight on Daylight? Is that the production company of the drama? And which other dramas have they produced that she has been in? Thanks!
It ended yesterday. The TV rating last night was #1 (CCTV is not included) . TV rating of this drama was usually…
Thanks uvad! Glad people liked the drama! I really like Wu Shi Yi’s character and think Wang LiKun did such a great job! I hope she gets more opportunities. Johnny, of course seems to be quite popular and I feel like gets really great projects already.
Any reason why this drama was filmed in 2019, but didn’t actually air until now? Given the good reception, it would seem like they could have aired it earlier, but why the 2 year wait?
I just finished watching this drama and although I enjoyed it overall, the story didn't develop the way I was…
Agree with your comment on 2nd leads and lack of focused storytelling at times. My personal opinion is that C-drama productions often feel that way to the audience due to certain incentive structures, length of series, marketing deals, ensuring certain actors/actresses get screen time, etc. I find myself often comparing cdramas vs. kdramas which often have the standard 16 eps and I think the compression of episodes actually forces better focused stories. But when you have 40 eps, you've got tons of filler material and scenes that don't necessarily feel like they move the story forward. I would have to think the length of the series is just a way to maximize and juice production value.
If you look at it from Hou Jue’s vantage point (also, Zhang Jie’s) it actually is the number “51” which is representative of Wu ShiYi’s name in Chinese (as it sounds similar). So technically he wrote on the window “5❤️1”.
I had to watch it a few times before I finally caught it though. I bet a lot of viewers felt the same way, because eventually Johnny posted on Weibo a picture of how the window post-it looks, I think to clear up some confusion.
Finally The Irritating Characters Are Gone! Now I Can Enjoy The Last 6 Episode.I Know,Everyone Is Complaining About…
Completely agree with you Nilambar! This drama may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I personally found it very romantic. I think the story telling has been very good at conveying to the audience the depth and intensity of their love. While the physical component may not be present (I hear you guys loud and clear, for I too wish there to be more bc I think Wang LiKun + Johnny would be 🔥), but I respect the director's vision in representing this love as being truly a transformational love - with the intensity and depth that goes beyond just a physical connection. Perhaps it's his way of keeping the love "pure". Surely, their love for one another has proven to be enduring and unwavering even through some hard times. But neither of them ever gave up. As the ending theme song [光 (Guang)] the lyrics sing, "Do not fear, to wait for the love that has never left." Bravo to LiKun and Johnny. They made this drama. Coupled with a good story, I find this drama to be thoroughly enjoyable!
Does anyone have any ideas where this drama is filmed? Specifically, where is the resort town that Lan Chi's hotel is located? I thought the drama was shot in Shenzhen, but even when I tried searching I couldn't figure out where Lan Chi's hotel location. Thanks!
Anyone else think Wang Likun is an excellent actress and really nails WuShiYi? I’ve not seen her other works, but I have to say, her and Johnny Huang (per usual) are awesome in this drama!
Just When They Started To Get Along .......The Drama Introduced The Final Irritating Character, Chen Chen. After…
AGREE with the irritating characters. Regarding Lan Qi, I just can’t quite figure out FL’s relationship with him and how she feels about him. Did they date in college? Did she love him? Why did they break up? How did she end up with ZhuPengCheng? Personally feel Lan Qi is a bit demanding and possessive of our FL despite just literally walking back into her life, oh…about a minute ago. The dude basically said she should walk away from her career cuz he’s doesn’t like it. But I think the real question is, how does our FL feel about him? What are her feelings towards him. Frankly the drama doesn’t have time to explore that given that she’s a 24/7 bodyguard, but it’s hard to understand her thoughts as she is being pursued by multiple suitors.
Think this drama is a good and fun watch! Love the ML and FL and their slow burn romance. Really like watching their feelings for each other grow. We’re officially halfway thru the series and I think the 2nd half will be more intense and interesting (based on the previews/trailers). Thank goodness there are new episodes everyday!
YES!!! The scene with them getting together was so simple and sweet. Spot on, lovely!
I think they would make a great rom-com together. Zhang YuXi is quite hilarious and cute as the drunk XQY. And frankly, their chemistry is 🔥. Enjoying this!!!
Thank you DramaGods for letting them get together otherwise the wait for new eps would be torture!! Here we go again…eagerly awaiting new eps!!! Wed can’t come soon enough!
The plot is little rushed though they had plenty of time to establish each characters. For instance there was…
I am in agreement that this story is in the vein of love at first sight. Or at the very least, interest at first sight. However, at what point do our leads fall in love with one another? I am having trouble reconciling when our FL fancies our ML, to being able to drop everything at a moment’s notice worried about his well-being. Her rushing to him, in my view, is a declaration of her love. As a viewer, I wasn’t quite ready for this grand display. Intense chemistry and attraction? Absolutely. Like? Yes, I’d say so. Love? When did that happen? (Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge main CP fan) so my issue is that I just didn’t find it convincing enough, quite YET. However, I do recognize that our leads share moments of vulnerabilities (though, I feel like they could SHOW more relationship development), time again. So perhaps it’s in those unsuspecting moments, that they fall in love.
Does anybody know if this drama is adapted from a novel? If so, anyone have a link and/or English translation?
Observations thus far (10 eps): 1) Personally, I think the music is a bit mismatched for the drama. The music gives off the “seduction/sultry” vibes. But, compared to typical western adaptations, I think drama should be renamed “Very Subtle Seduction” and I mean you pretty much have to read a lot into their heart eye glances, slightly awkward heart racing moments - if you need OBVIOUS declarations of affections via words, wrong drama. Subtlety is the key here folks.
2) Plot - 10eps in and questions abound. What is the ML’s background, we know practically nothing about him except that he plays the guitar, he’s professionally accomplished, he respects female boundaries and he always saves our FL. But what does he like about our heroine? Is this a fleeting passionate feeling, or is this the real deal? Is he a playboy? Basically, why her? And for our FL, why is she so set in her mind that our ML is definitely not her type? Is this just a denial tactic or something else?
FL/ML chemistry is great! But I think you have to be comfortable with a bit of an arrogant tsundere in the ML. His affection and love for FL is in what he does as opposed to what he says. Again, subtly is the key. A fun watch so far!
