First, a warning! I have a lot to say. I haven't really been able to speak to anyone about my love for Turkish…
Nicely said! I must add, what I like about Turkish dramas is that they portray the raw emotions very well. Many of their characters and situations seem realistic. However, on the other hand, it's like they feed on anguish XD Many Turkish soap operas end tragically, main characters die or terrible things happen to them and they also go overboard with evil characters. These remakes are pretty new and short because they target younger audience and that is a good thing I guess.

Of course it is not the same as actual rape (penetration), but the feeling of violation is the same. I thought…
No problem, thanks for your opinion :) Many have complained about that sentence and perhaps I should have rephrased so they would understand better, but my meaning is still the same: cutting off one's hair (especially woman's) is considered to be a very deep violation, not only in a physical sense, go here for more: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1508091/Its-a-crime-to-cut-off-a-womans-hair.html

And that is why I found that scene in particular very disturbing.

Thanks! That remake is mentioned at the bottom of the article, I just decided to not include it in the main list, it was already too long :)

I do not agree with equivocating forced hair-cutting with rape. While I totally agree that it is a form of physical…
Of course it is not the same as actual rape (penetration), but the feeling of violation is the same. I thought that is clear enough.
ps. it's weird receiving notifications for this article, can't believe it's two years old already xD

This is probably one of the darkest and most fucked up dramas I've ever watched.

The 1st ep was boring but I decided to give the 2nd ep a go because there wasn't anything else to watch and what I liked is that this drama explores one very interesting issue - and that is favoring the son over the daughter. I see it in my culture as well and I like how the drama shows the new generations of Koreans who want to leave these patriarchal notions behind. Just because she is a woman that doesn't mean that she is worth less. I hope they'll go in that direction and not fill the rest of the episodes with cheesy cliches.

Title Love and Lies Spoiler
The ending in anime was pure shit. The main guy ended up married to both female leads. I wonder how they'll work that out in this film.

Can anyone tell me if this is your typical lakorn in which the male lead is abusive or it's actually normal?
