Covid and politics. The premise had to be changed and the whole script rewritten to avoid getting into trouble…
Thanks for the info, makes a lot more sense now :)
On I Told Sunset about You Dec 7, 2020
Please spoil if it is happy or sad at the end of this season, just watched 2 eps and this one might have me crying buckets, and does it look optimistic even if it isn’t definitively good?

I knew there was some military political issues in Thailand, but didn’t realise it was sensitive enough an issue to force rewrite dramas, makes this sound like an odd form of censorship. I had forgotten about this because I swear it was 2019 when I saw the original trailer?

Thanks for this article! I also very much like the clarification you gave at the start about what a strong character is, because it irritates me when “strong” characters are depicted as only having physical strength or being bullies. I’m also thinking I’ll go watch Nobody Knows, looks like my cup of tea.

I think that the entire male supporting cast can be summed up by Theory of Love, 3 Will Be Free, 2gether, and Tonhon Chonlatee. Maybe the sitcom we’ve all been waiting for with Mike and a Toptap? Who knows. Never seen any of the lead before though.

I wouldn’t watch it for the premise, but tempted to see if it’s worth it for the supporting cast. If it’s a sitcom, there’s hope for this yet!

Sorry, but when Tay Taiwan walked in and delivered that line in the trailer, the only thing I had in my mind was “CLUEDOOOO!”

My board game related delusions aside, from seeing the trailer this looks like it will either be great, with the right balance between the thriller/mystery and the romance it could be a very fun whodunnit; or it will be in the realms of underwhelming and bad. I feel a bit iffy from the trailer, as it seemed to focus on the messy entanglement of relationships with minimal thriller/mystery related tension, but we’ll see when it comes out.

I’m hopeful for the writing here, and a refreshing branching out on GMMTV’s part, as this doesn’t look like your typical “BL” from them. No high school, no university. Also, notably not in the category of Romance. This looks like a sign that we may well be moving out of the cliché realm of the oversaturated generic BL market - a change I’d very much like from GMMTV in particular, because even looking at the best of Thai BL, no offence but it isn’t usually GMMTV that does the exciting or groundbreaking dramas, it’s more often smaller studios. (The best example from GMMTV I can think of is 3 Will be Free, which was not marketed as BL.)

I’m very excited for this to turn out well, especially with the crime/thriller aspects! Heck, if it’s as good as 3 Will Be Free that would be a success in my book. The trailer looks very good, now I’ll be back here regularly looking for updates, especially for the air date to drop.

Unrelated but I really like the tattoo Gun has on his arm for this, although I doubt if it’s real..?

Unfortunately it doesn't. This show is a mess.EDIT: Full disclosure: this was written when I was super frustrated…
Fair, feel free to be irritated at the first couple of episodes, I was bored by them funnily enough XD

I get what you mean about earlier dramas, some of mine were awful looking back yet I liked them at the time, and a couple I had originally struggled with were actually something that I wouldn’t appreciate until I matured a bit.

Good luck if you’re trying again! :)

I watched Extraordinary You right after this, and I loved it! It also lead to me liking Lee Jae Wook even more (having seen him in Search : WWW). Not quite in the same vein but I also really enjoyed Memories of the Alhambra, with game/real world (sort of).

And I get what you mean now about FL and ML, and the poor SML! :)

About you mentioning W, because I love Lost Romance and couldn’t stand W’s writing because to me it felt very inconsistent in terms of the logic.

Interesting to hear your opinion on this considering. I have to say that until Xiao En ends up trapped in the novel, this drama wasn’t good in the slightest - the only reason I didn’t initially drop was because I wanted to see novel world, and it got far better for me there.

Oh and about Xiao En, she didn’t write the novel. She’s an editor who had only read the first few chapters - I saw you saying she fell for her own character when in fact she only edits CEO novels. She also isn’t enthusiastic because she is fed up of cliché, typical CEO romance novels with overly generic characters and plot devices.

EDIT : I hope this doesn’t sound passive aggressive, just found your opinion interesting because of W and Lost Romance we seem to have the opposite taste?

This show is asking ALOT from me in the way of suspension of disbelief. Like there are no cops or investigations…
When I was watching it (while it aired) I mostly skipped the evil family scenes, although I’m about to rewatch without skipping them. I will also say the first 2-3 episodes were awful, I only hung on because I wanted to see the novel world; and for me it picked up from there. The writing doesn’t hit its stride until in the novel world.

As for suspension of disbelief, it didn’t register to me much, because this is one of those stories that isn’t *completely* impossible - I dismissed villain plot as the “if they have money, they have power” situation because corruption is a scary thing; although I get it if you find it a bit much - I just skipped it for lack of interest the first time around. Having watched the whole drama the only scenes I skipped were evil family scenes.

If you aren’t enjoying evil family scenes, I’d say you can skip them without it affecting the rest of the drama, it’s only really relevant toward the end, and by that point it isn’t as hard to watch.

If you can make it through the 1st 2-3 episodes, there is some real gold here. Xiao En is annoyingly OTT but you'll…
Interesting what you found about Xiao En, I found her to be the most relatable FL I’ve come across in dramaland in many ways, because she’s consistent, outspoken, and unafraid to make blunders. I do get that she can seem OTT, and some of her decisions may have been odd/bold, although I loved her character all the more for it.

I do agree the first episodes didn’t impress, I would have dropped - but I wanted to see what happened when she got stuck in the novel world, and by the time she got there the writing started picking up and the rest was on the up from there for me.

Name of that film?
Saitankyori wa Mawari Kudokute... can’t recommend it though, it featured one of the most disturbing scenes I’ve ever seen. I came across it because of a youtuber I watch doing a collab with an actor/pole dancer who starred in the sequel.
