Hey there, thanks for your post. As a gay adult guy, I'm happy to have any LGBTQ+ representation. But BLs have…
I disagree with being picky. We are already looked down upon as a community and I think we should be uplifting and encouraging, espically over a FICTIONAL series that many people have worked hard on for our personal entertainment! I already explained previously why I believe kuea is the way he is and I stand by it, and believe he is acting how he is with a SOMEWHAT valid reason. But overall I respect your opinion even!! and I'll for sure check out your lists bestie <3<3
All the insults to this body or work- “trash, Dumpster fire, train wreck etc” is beyond me- How are we gonna sit here and mask hatred as constructive criticism? WHEN using phrases like that.
I understand there are two conflicting parties watching this show- those who are enjoying it, and those who aren’t! And that’s fine! But I just don’t understand people taking time out of there day to be rude and hateful to a creation that was evidently made for us to enjoy and consume with a light heart- Everyone is free to their opinion but that shouldn’t give you the right to be a keyboard warrior- and disguising your blatant hate as “criticism”. Espcially regarding the acting.
This show’s plot is absolutely fucked and it should’ve been evident to everyone when reading the bloody synopsis/trailer or to those who read the book 😭😂 but literally every other aspect, I see no problem with at all- music is top tier, acting is very good for a Thai series in my opinion, and the portrayal of the YES- horrible plot but yet is still very well executed.
I feel like In the BL community, when a series comes out like this based on a book- people have read the story and know what’s going to happen- and then there’s people who have not. And I feel like it is very clear to see the difference between them from just reading these comments. Those of us who read the book understand the immature, cute, emotional and insecure character of Kuea. He literally grew up with his whole life planned for him- OFC he’s the way he is- lying, hypocritical and emotional because he’s expected to be perfect.
The viewership for this show I think is considered 18+, so I feel like all of us should have an UNDERSTANDING WHY all the characters are the way they are in a FALSE SENSE PLEASE-. I feel like the level of anger and “criticism” people are leaving in this comment section is so PERSONAL 💀 like you have lived this FALSE scenario and are instructing how it should be dealt with? HUH? If anyone here has been through this by ALL means let me know cause you all speaking from the HEART 🤣
I also feel like people are overlooking the communication issue between the leads. Lian and Kuea have not been living together for long AT ALL- I think if I remember correctly from the novel analysis, it roughly just under two months 😭 it takes IRL couples years to sometimes resolve communication issues and everyone here is expecting them to just a fix everything when clearly both characters do not KNOW how to express feelings because 1. It’s both of theirs first relationship pretty much, 2. They have immense pressure from both sides of the family, and 3. They both are striving to be perfect for one another.
I know on other platforms this series is so loved but mydramalist is just “critique” after “critique” 😭 another point is everyone complaining about the, “no character or story line development”. Again, VERY slow burn in the terms of opening up to eachother, honesty and being emotionally available, but then again- my peers that read the novel already know this and we expected it.
I feel like everyone completely disregarded the two leads trying to just get comfortable around eachother first. From episode one, Kuea would literally shit himself in Lian’s presence 😭 so to now- where he seems somewhat comfortable (FOR LITERALLY ONLY 2 MONTHS) of living together, that is development in my book 😭
I want to address more thing but I’m at work besties 🤣 I just want to wrap up with how it’s ironic to me that a series that is catered to a LGBTQIA+ community is so heavily criticised by us of that same nature. We strive to see more representation within media yet when there is a representative body of work (EVEN THOUGH THE STORY IS FUCKED), we are the FIRST PEOPLE TO TALK SHIT 💀💀 I’m just grateful that it’s somewhat accepted because years ago this shit wouldn’t be allowed on tv- especially in Thailand 😭
As someone who didn't really have high hopes for this series when it was announced (because my logical brain just couldn't get over the "engagement" part), and only decided to watch it because I'm a fan of Zee, I can honestly say that this series has thoroughly proven that real-life issues can be overcome if the narrative is well executed. The recent episode is written to that the fact that they can't legally get married in Thailand which suddenly becomes a non-issue. Something that doesn't dampen the enjoyment of the story!
Zee and New do such a good job portraying the personalities and emotions of their characters that you can't help but be sucked into the story. The direction here, and the skills of the Director, really shine. As does the talent of the entire cast. Max and Nat's characters are super interesting, as is the subplot/mystery of what happened between them in the past, that you can't help but be curious. And the fact that BounPrem makes a cameo is just the cherry on top.
Overall- this series is such a pleasure and I personally am really enjoying each episode. Yes the pace is slow, but that is what I persoanlly enjoy! I'm not delusional in failing to recognise the evident flaws in the story but I personally watch any and all tv shows with a very light heart and empty mind, because I can appreciate being able to enjoy a false reality as a guilty pleasure!
Love ya'll and can't wait for the next episode! why THE WEEK WAIT!!!!!!!! 😭
What we need in the comments section is acceptance of everyone's POV. Because the comments section is literally…
Hey, I am all for calling out issues in drama's that need to definitely be addressed and of course everyone is entitled to express their opinion freely! I am just trying to say you and many other people have been critiquing the show for its flaws left and right in the comment section which me as a reader sees it as you are not enjoying the show and have problems with the ongoing portrayal of the story.
I was in no way trying to boot Ya'll out of the comment section!!
Additionally, I know that the story is all over the place, with it definitely being a creative issue in the story telling/script but the drama is filmed and ready for release.
We all have seen the trailer and how the first 3 eps panned out. You can get a general consensus on how the story is going to go and what the characters are like, and all I am saying is if you have a problem with the cliche and/or negative stereotypes that are displayed in the BL- why waste your time?
You are completely valid in saying BL drama creators need to cut the shit with all the harmful stereotypes and scenarios that shine a negative light on the community. But the shit is wrapped and ready for us all to watch and I hope we can all just enjoy the efforts the cast has put into making this series!
In my opinion, I think we need to watch these dramas with a grain of salt. I highly doubt many people in the world are in the exact same predicament as the protagonists of the show- Unless Ya'll are secret musicians in line to marry a rich businessman! So, we all know that this isn't serious! But it certainly does not make it okay! I digress, everyone is free speak their truth, but I think there is such a divide in the comments because it's coming across a bit harsh!
But ANYWAYS love Ya'll- who is excited for EP4?!?!?!?
Reiterating "Kiks" commment after yall's negativity- "If you don’t like this just don’t watch. You said It’s boring.. Ok. This is your opinion but you should remember that this was adapted from the book and book is cheesy, sweet, simple and cute. There is no drama there. There is some tears but nothing really heavy"
Me: This is meant to be a comforting drama, which is why it was heavily requested to be adapted from the book. Yes there are negative stereotypes and scenes that could be VERY controversial BUT it is a DRAMA- If you aren't able to separate your own beliefs and values from the PRE-DETERMINED script, maybe this drama isn't for you and THAT'S OKAY! However- We don't need negativity in the comments of a show that has barely STARTED guys!
Additionally, I personally believe those of us that are watching this BL series (or any other BL serious) should all be mature enough to recognise that it's just ACTING, regardless of what scenes are being displayed. If you think the writing is shit and is not something you want to support- BESTIE there are many other shows you can watch... it's not that serious!!!!
At the end of the day, If you do not agree with what is being portrayed, no one is forcing you to watch the show. Many people are enjoying the storyline and just because they are does not mean you have to critique every issue the show is portraying. I watch drama's as an escape from the shitty real world we are all in today- it is a FALSE reality, and if you can't accept this fact then that's on you.
I hope we can support all the hard work and efforts the cast has put into this show and at least give it a fair chance before raising pitchforks to a FALSE reality!
