I loved tteom and tbh this drama has similar dark theme. Bai lu is always cautious of Zhang ling he. Xlh is a really dark character who takes every step after cunning scheming by him. He treats every other character like a pawn and Bai lu very well knows this and manages to see pass his most of the schemes. So they work together in many situations which make them a badass duo. Their chemistry is just on fire. You must really watch it and a plus point is that there is not much pain, anguish or misunderstandings.
