Title Immortality Spoiler
Hyx’s director recently posted this on his weibo: "Those who are to come will eventually come, waiting is the…
Trust me, at this point I think they are waiting for us to build our own Path of Martyrdom, then they'll give the trailer T_T
People are saying that Type and Tharn were shallow characters compare to other shows. That the anger issues and hotheadedness has become redundant. People that said this hasn't been watching the first 2 episodes quite closely. Type's soft voice in the kitchen scene during episode 1. His willingness to tell Tharn that he wanted to iron his clothes for him. In the episode 2 kitchen scene in which you can see his worry about Tharn being burn by oil while frying. His too soft voice there... To those who watched Season 1 episodes 1 and 2, have you even imagine at that time, Type will be like this? That is one heck of character growth.

Being and CSA survivor was a very rough and painful life. I don't have the right to explain for I have never been in that position, but I know some people who've gone through the same experience as Type... and it was never easy. The trauma stays with you for a very long time and even in some cases forever. Just because Type has fallen in love with Tharn and has been in a sexual relationship with him for 7 years now, it doesn't mean he had fully overcome that part of his life.

There are times that Type is a ticking timebomb that was ready to explode. That's how volatile he is. And Tharn is his safety pin. His pillar. His home. (Which reminds me of Ko Moon-young and her Moon Gang-tae in It's Okay Not to Be Okay). We can see more of that in the later episodes if we will base on the novel.

On the other hand, Type is also Tharn's home and the center of his world. He was always left behind by people he loved because of what Lhong has done. He has been broken too young over and over again which leads him to have a trauma with break-ups. That's is also one of the reasons why he was too giving, the one who always apologizing, the one who always going an extreme length just to compromise and understand. It is not a weakness... in fact, an edge. How equal their love is, in my opinion, Tharn's love is always constant. It is the same amount as it was 7 years ago. It was Type's love who's always growing until the point he was actually more emotionally dependent on Tharn than he let on.

There is a chapter in the novel that totally broke me. And I would love to see Gulf play it the way it made me brawl right on my phone screen. If done right, it might be the most powerful and tear-jerker scene in both Season 1 and Season 2. (The impact when I read it was much more than the Episode 11 break-up scene). It showcases that Type literally couldn't live without Tharn.

Some people branded this couple as toxic. Yet in truth, they healed each other... they needed each other and they can't leave without the other. Their relationship transcends the word love. It was more than that. Tharn and Type are far from perfect but they created something extraordinary together.

This is not a fluffy or a poetic kind of BL series. This is a slice of reality. A reality that was kinda messy, a rollercoaster ride with ups downs... bumps and edges. Their story is dark and tackles a real-life situation.

Both are flawed characters. Tharn might look like the ideal perfect boyfriend that can be borderline martyr yet when you look closely he is also selfish and somewhat manipulative. Just like in episode 2 in which he would dip his hand on the frying pan knowing that Type love too much that he couldn't take it to see him hurt, just to pacify his anger and earn his forgiveness. And also his saying that Type should think he is an unreasonable idiot, was reverse psychology he was too good at using. It actually his way of taming Type's temper. That's how he knows his partner too well. Which also adds to the layer of his character. It doesn't make him bad but human. Because there is no such thing as 'too good to be true'.

In another angle, Type also is flawed in his own way. He might have changed drastically through the years, but he still does and say things out of hand knowing that Tharn loved him too much and will always be the one to give in and let him have his way.

Basically speaking, Tharn and Type's characters are us. They flesh out the bad and good traits of real people. We can be selfish, we can sometimes take our loved ones feeling for granted, and be stubborn for something we believed is right. But at the same time we can also give in to people we love and go to a great length just to make them happy.

None of the characters are Mary Sue/Gary Stu. They all have their own black and white side, weaknesses, and strength. And that what's makes them relatable.

This is not a fairytale, utopic world, or a coming of age story. This is two imperfect adults in an imperfect reality like setup, trying to show their love for each other differently, amid stereotypes, insecurities, and their own fears.

And there is also something I couldn't understand. Why do some people make a big deal out of the NC scenes? Most couples are doing 'the deed' almost every day. Some are adventuristic and want to spice their intimate life. And why does making love has to have a reason and be plot-wise when you are already in a 7 years relationship? That's absurd. Couples can do that whenever they want if they feel like it. Who are we to count?

With regards to the marriage issue. It's not as simple as some people think. This has been a debatable issue not only for LGBTQ+ but also for ordinary people. Some people think that marriage is just a piece of paper and on the other side there are who belives it is the next step after a long-term relationship.

If we have these debates even for ordinary couples, do the people thinking this marriage conflict in this series is shallow, ever comes to their mind how difficult it might be for gay couples like Type and Tharn? Yes, we say same-sex marriage is already widely accepted. But we are not too naive to believe that the society we are living in is far from judgemental. It was not that easy. We are still in the early stage of the same-sex relationship era. Type's point and fears have a deep valid reason.

So do Tharn's too. He is the emotional kind of person. He is one of those people who wanted to show the world how much he loves Type. He wanted the traditional steps of the relationship. He wanted the feeling of security. And seeing that his brother is getting married, put pressure on his shoulders and excavate his insecurities. People who watched Season 1 knows his background and where he was coming from. And as seven years pass, those fears and insecurities strengthen and do not vanish.

Fiat arc was also relatable. It might be used already over and over again in dramas, but in reality, it always happens. There are really people who will go to a great length just to get what they want even destroying someone's happiness.

The endearment issue was also not necessary. Lovers call themselves sometimes as 'babe'. Ordinary couples call themselves sometimes as hubby and wifey. Why can't Tharn call Type that? Type doesn't have a problem calling himself as Tharn's wife during the first scene in episode 2. It's their endearment for each other. What's wrong with that?

People have different taste in movies/series they watch. But both season 1 and season 2's plot are really commendable and far from shallow. TharnType never shies away from real-life problems and dark themes. If you don't find it like that or you don't have the will to analyze the depth of the story itself, then don't force yourself to watch. The negativity in this comment section is not needed.

And BL series comparison to another is quite toxic. Praise the series on their own comment section and not on the others.
