Just a thought... why not just do a whole drama set in 1983?! Why the need for transmigration? If the main plot…
I understand what you mean, and I kind of agree. The transmigration part felt very rushed and not really important to the story. They showed it for just a few seconds, and then everything focused on the 1983 timeline. Because of that, it didn’t feel necessary at all.
The story in 1983 was already strong enough to stand on its own. The female lead’s maturity, smart decisions, and calm nature could have easily been shown as part of her personality. Not every strong character needs a “past life” explanation. Sometimes good writing is enough to make it believable.
I think the idea of transmigration was used to explain why she thinks differently from others and handles situations better. But since they didn’t develop that part properly, it felt more like an extra detail than an important plot point.
In the end, focusing only on the 1983 setting would have made the drama feel more natural and smooth. The transmigration concept wasn’t bad, but the way it was used made it feel unnecessary.
Dream of Golden Years is a really beautiful and heartwarming drama. The story feels simple but very meaningful, showing love and life in a mature and realistic way. The chemistry between the main characters is natural and comfortable, not forced at all. What makes it special is how they understand and support each other through every situation. Every character is well-written and adds something important to the story. The emotions feel real, and many moments stay with you even after the drama ends. Overall, it’s a calm, touching, and satisfying watch that leaves a warm feeling in your heart.
