Yeah, it's hard to tell just by looking at that scene in the trailer. But I think this drama is like Cross Fire and The King's Avatar, with no romance genre but there are romance in the story. Just put "slight romance" in the tag, but no "romance" in the genre.

Sorry for the late reply. Now that I watched till Ep 10, I can reply to you comment, haha. I agree with you. The show won't kill Naksu/Mu Deok. First, I thought that since Naksu's body is burned in public and we saw it burned, we think that Naksu cannot get her body back. But that is logic. This is fantasy drama, anything can happen including the resurrection of Naksu's body.
After watching Ep 10, I want Naksu's body back for Yul. He's being so sweet to Mu Deok after Jang Uk enters Songrim and Mu Deok cannot follow him, although he knows that her loyalty belongs to Jang Uk and she doesn't show any feeling for Yul. I want a HE for him.
Now that CP is also getting closer to the other guys, I hope he doesn't die in the end. Too bad his mom is the biggest villain, I assume he'll die. Poor guy, he must like their company because they're about the same age. The scene when they're helping Mu Deok with her test is gold.
The dillema tho, Jang Uk falls for a woman who has Mu Deok/Bu Yeon's body but with Naksu's feisty personality. If Naksu is back to her body and it turns out Mu Deok is Bu Yeon and she gets her body back also, Bu Yeon has a gentle personality. It's like loving the twin of your ex lover, they're not the same. And how about Bu Yeon's blindness?

The story... yeah, hopefully it's handled well, too. I'm actually curious why it needs Part 2 and why it's 20 episodes instead of the usual 16-episode kdrama format. However, the preliminary announcement for Part 2 even before they aired Part 1 is a smart move: to tie loose ends, feedback from audience, and fan service, I guess.

I know it's confusing cos it's different from the original novel, so the synopsis sucks. I rewrote the synopsis to connect the dots, without spoiler: The female lead Jiang Yuan Xing is a long-time and trusted employee for a conglomerate group owned by the Gao family. Cheng Cheng is believed to be the patriarch's illegitimate son. He and Jiang Yuan Xing are dating. Later the family get together in Kairoutei, a hotel owned by the group. Jiang Yuan Xing and Cheng Cheng are there, too. When fire breaks out at night, Jiang Yuan Xing couldn't get away since she passes out being strangled, but she's alive. Since it's an arson, the police investigate the case. Cheng Cheng becomes a suspect.

I just finished the drama. Okay, because he lied during investigation. Probably in other country's show, especially western, this narration about Cheng Cheng gets 3 months jail sentence or the scene of him being released won't be here, only the reunion of the couple. In Chinese dramas, for every crime or legal wrong doing, there has to have legal punishment or the drama will not pass the censorship.

Yeah, I think so, too. At first, I thought he was just flattered from her praises, which is quite obvious to suck up so he won't go after Jang Uk. Later I think he likes her, because of the mirror illusion event. Especially after he snaps at the gisaeng because she talks down about Mu Deok.
The characterization created by Hong Sisters is interesting since it's revealed layer by layer. I'm curious about the queen and Mr. Jin who's looking for his daughter, I hope they also tell more about them so they're not just two dimensional characters.
