I'm at to Ep 20 and will binge till whatever is released. So far so good lots of action, suspense, and touching moments. Good directing, acting, OST, costume/prop, and cinematography. The hype is because of the popular cast. Honestly I picked this drama for the cast cos I watch mostly Cdramas and have watched all 5 main actors' previous dramas, so I like all of them. The one that pivotal point is what will the ending be. That may crash the rating.

Please be patient: I myself always binge-watch a drama when it is ended and subbed so I know that it's 'safe' for me mentally. But for writing an article purpose I watching this drama now while it's currently airing/subbing. To be honest with you: I am quite nervous...

In Ever Night basically a lot of characters from Tang Academy have magical weapons but they are supporting characters, so you only see the manifestations in epic battle showdowns:
Fu Zi's chopstick, Second Brother's sword, Seventh Sister's embroidery needle, and the two musician brothers' quqin and flute (I don't remember their number ranks).
In Chinese' Novoland: The Castle in the Sky 2: FL has a magical robe, it's like Harry Potter's invisible cloak.
In Thai's Ruk Laek Pop: ML has a magical bank account book that time travels him back and forth.
In Thai's A Gift to the People You Hate: the seller sells gift to customers who hate people they know. But I haven't watched this drama, so I don't know much about it. The info is in the synopsis.

Interesting article, real_Mokona! Since I only watched TMOPB of all dramas featured, automatically my vote goes to Bai Qian's fan. However, I might run into a possibility of being arrested for owning an illegal weapon. So I opted for the magical umbrella from Ever Night! Talking about multi use: it protects me from physical and magical attacks, snow, rain, and hot sun.

I think in general if we still want to discuss a drama with lots of people, we need to watch it after it's finished with the sub nearly completion. Therefore, the drama is still a hot cake to talk in the comment page, but we don't have to wait too long for the translation ;D. I would love to do that, but I haven't even caught 2020 dramas I wanted to watch (just one more left) and there are many 2021 dramas about to finish subbing that I still need to watch ;D

Thanks for the clarification, since I didn't pick it because it was the best adaptation. You have the luxury of time available to be able to watch them all ;D

Yeah, in that age he was a uni student. It's normal to date. Especially since in China they are not allowed to date in high school because of the gaokao thing. So once off high school, all hell break lose... I mean all hormones... lol

I think her intention is not really ruining his career... more to get some attention and fame. Paparazzi and others will interview her with questions like: what is he like? how is he as a lover? and so on.

- Yeah that's what I thought in the past I can't never watched an installment if it's part of a series of stories. I tried though, I tried to watch Mystic Nine as the beginning of all but dropped it. I think once I fail watching one part, I lose drive to try the rest. Since it seems you also watched a lot of doramas, I also tried with the Japanese High & Low series but I still failed...

it's okay for the long comment. I actually like discussing things in certain dramas in my recap articles. I usually don't have that privilege since I'm not a currently-airing drama watcher. I'm always late to the party. I start watching once it's completely subbed so I always miss the euphoria ;D

Especially minute 10:10... This is quite interesting... In my article on the Murderous Affair in the Horizon Tower... I had an interesting discussion with an MDLer who stated that Taiwanese directors generally (specifically who directed that drama) direct better than Chinese directors. Now this is a HK director. As you've seen HK movies/dramas, what do you think?

Since I have watched a lot of Chinese dramas... sigh... I'm kinda accept the fact of this 'sad' endings. I mean open endings that second seasons never filmed or cast change. But the books themselves have open endings. The author creates cliffhangers to make his readers keep reading the next installments. So it's normal if the drama adaptations also have open endings. Regarding cast change, yeah I actually wonder why they never can keep the same cast, at least for the main characters. Unlike productions from other countries they keep same actors (so far I watched Korean, Japanese, Thai sequels/second seasons). But with massive production in Chinese dramas, more likely schedule conflicts of these busy actors, among other 'political' reasons of course.
