Looking at their fantastic gothic costumes in the latest Ep 19-20... I can just sigh... I know that gothic drama is a no-no because NRTA won't allow foreign cultures to influence. But neither allow modern fantasy/supernatural drama to be made.

I agree with you... when Ep 1 started I was like... "Uhm Luo Yun Xi and Song Yi... what an odd pairing...." It was like they didn't match. That's probably why people who didn't like Ep 1 dropped and gave bad rating. But after a while their relationship is so sweet, and other interesting characters show up on the screen: the lively Sai Er, the grumpy Bie Li, the sweet Ruo Qian, etc, etc.

At least you know what happened in the past. Just start Ep 1 around minute 18 when she woke up (rebirth) and later him at minute 32. After that all are what happened is their second life, only glimpses of past when ML or FL realize something (to explain to us watchers).

When the second life starts, she is 18 and he is 20 and not married yet. They got married again in Ep 9 because they realized they could be allies to fix the past (she had a chance to marry other guys). There are hints that they loved each other in the past but relationship went south. In second life it shows they actually love each other but still being sarcastic with each other and not fully trust because of the past pain. Just watch it, the plot is completely different than other historical C-dramas imo. Especially if you like second chance love.
