Ann R H, I was talking about perceived bad guys redeeming themselves. Ned Stark is a more complex character than at first glance, but still a "good guy", taking heat for something he didn't do, and Tyrion was an outcast who always was disgusted by his family's behavior, but torn by loyalty. GOT is wonderfully written/acted. There are shows even from the 70s where the "bad guy" is actually good (The Rockford Files), but I can't think of one US show where the villain is sorry for his crime.
I think all of these are based on Asian culture and norms, so I try to see it as a different way (not that I would do that/want that to happen to me!). As for the turnaround of "bad guys" and the willingness of others to forgive them, I actually enjoy that. It makes the character more real, and much better than the all bad/all good characters in US shows.
I started watching this show based on your article and IT IS AWESOME! I love the character development of the two leads and how he actually admires her naivete. Thank you!
I love the "cat and mouse"/back and forth between the two leads. He thinks he's got the best of her, but she's just as smart as him and puts him in his place. And then SHE'S got the best of him...cute romance. As for the psychology....it's a drama.
I agree. Tae-Won is a very interesting character and not one you often see in Kdramas: innocent, shy, tortured soul, but also intelligent. Hye-Mi grew s little as she became nicer, but I think it's a character not far from the real actor's personality. Cute, sweet drama.
TvN, are you listening? We want MORE of this show, not LESS!! So sad they cut this one down. I love that TvN shows tend to be quirky. And I now have a new bias, Byun Yo Han. Such a cutie!
