I wouldn't say he was, I think he finally found peace with himself, he did not end up with the girl as many are thinking, and at the end one can see the way he hesitantly lifts his pinky. I think he felt rushed with the surgery, but now that things have become more settled, he can truly find himself and be happy with who he is.
