All 3 ended in separation.

I liked the time when he was a hostage prince up to when he escaped on the boat prepared by Lan-an. I guess those were more innocent times. Once he assumed power as King of Jing, things started to progressively get darker. *Sighs*

To be fair, TTEOTM was originally meant to be completed in around 56 episodes but due to new rules, they were forced to cut out a lot to accommodate 40 episodes. This made the story seem incomplete for some characters. I think folks would be able to see the show's merits if the series had been allowed to air the original 56 episodes instead of cramping it to 40.
